No way I could flip around like this guy. It takes me a long time just to get into bed at night. Each motion causes pain. I only wish I could move like this guy does. I’ve had surgery for spinal stenosis at L4-L5. Now I have ruptured disks at L3-L4 and L5-S1. Acupuncture helps a little. Started acupressure physical therapy. Since those two visits I wake up in the middle of the night with crushing lower right leg pain. It gets old.

I have been dealing with L5-S1 pain and most of those tests would have lit my back up like a Christmas tree. My back doctor told me that as long as my foot wasn't dropping or catching on rugs, there is no reason for surgery. I got a steroid injection yesterday and my back is much better. As soon as my hip pain subsides, I plan on visiting a chiropractor. But for now I am going to start up sessions with my physical therapist to work on building up strength that has even lost due to being bed ridden for several weeks

@@mantyshub90 I am sorry that you are having to go through this. One thing that helped me was to use a tennis ball to release the trigger points and help the muscles that were pulling on the vertebra pressing on the nerve. See if you can get in to see a physical therapist that specializes in lower back pain. Another thing that helped me was to do some simple yoga where I would sit on the floor cross legged and do some simple stretches.
These worked for me, but work with your doctors and physical therapists to see what helps you become functional.

Was it mentioned that this man was in a lot of pain (in that moment in time too)? I don't argue, I am just asking, maybe I missed it being said...
As I understand the symptoms from herniated intervertebral disks can range from numbness-discomfort-a bit of pain-more than a bit of pain (and/or impossibility to move, partially or completely)-a lot of pain-agony, something along those lines.
So impossibility to move and/or a lot of pain and/or agony are not the only situations in which one can end up looking for a chiropractic care / a chiropractic care can/should be applied.

When I go to see a doctor, I want to see THE doctor. Physio or chiro can make it worst. Just trust me. I had Sucessful surgery 16 months ago. No one wants surgery and there is a risk of failure but I was bed ridden for 3 months and had no choice.

Hey Dr Johnson, I know this video is old and this probably won't be seen but I'm giving it a shot, my friend has a severely herniated disc L5-S1 and the doctors used the term "obliterated" in the scan of him. All the doctors (private and NHS here in the UK) tell him that chiropractors will only make it worse but he's living in pain every day and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. I tell him that a chiropractor could help but realistically the only person I'd ever trust is you. Should he listen to the doctors here in the UK or could a ring dinger change his life?

L5S1 spodylothethesis is my jam, I fought through years of pain but the weakness and atrophy of my legs is a very defeating feeling, pain I can handle WEAKNESS no. I drag my legs around and get pain in the hips, I am a weak man, I go on hikes and the downhill parts KILL my knees, nerve issues, bloodflow issues. I hate this aspect of my life because of one mistake at work. I wanted to try a reverse ring dinger for the hips and create new vertebral space. But who knows....we all get old and become weak anyway so why not face what I will face when I am 80 now. 😜

My friend had spodylolithesis L5-S1. After around 4 years of pain and no luck with chiro and physical therapy (it was a severe chase of vertebral slippage) he had fusion surgery and is much better off for it 6-7 years on.

    • @civic400bhp
      @civic400bhp Před 2 lety

@@smarzig I’m not sure if the Chiropractors used Mackenzie’s techniques. He said it was all predominantly a waste of time in his particular case because he has a severe vertebral slippage (probably a grade 2 or 3). Because he also had severe neurological deficit (sciatica due to nerve impingement caused by the spondy) as well, surgery was the only way forward. Thankfully in his case he decided to try a new therapist at some point who carried out an X-ray. He told him directly that he couldn’t help his case and that surgery was his only option. He also wrote a referral letter for him explaining that he needed surgical input. A discectomy was carried out to eliminate radiculopathy (nerve pain/sciatica) and a fusion (to realign and stabilise the spine).
Around 7 years on now he swims 40 lengths a day, plays football with his nephews and actively works in his property development business.

As I replied to other individual with same sceptic question (questioning is a positive thing) in this comment section:
Was it mentioned that this man was in a lot of pain (in that moment in time too)? I don't argue, I am just asking, maybe I missed it being said...
As I understand the symptoms from herniated intervertebral disks can range from numbness-discomfort-a bit of pain-more than a bit of pain (and/or impossibility to move, partially or completely)-a lot of pain-agony, something along those lines.
So impossibility to move and/or a lot of pain and/or agony are not the only situations in which one can end up looking for a chiropractic care / a chiropractic care can/should be applied.

I have an L5-S1 disc slip as well if several doctors are telling you that you need to have surgery THEN YOU NEED TO HAVE SURGERY. Yes spinal fusion is brutal surgery (I’m ten days post op) but I choose this other being paralyzed in the next five to years. Chiropractic adjustment is great for people who are getting spinal injections and they want something else to help as well but it is not a solution. If multiple doctors say surgery then DO not wait your spine is so integral that you don’t want gamble on it.

Physical Therapy can be very effective in treating disc herniations IF the right treatment is applied for that patient. There are Chiro patients who have not been helped! Let's be fair.
