- The 'Great Britain XI' the pinnacle of U.K steam tours has once again come around and in this video we cover the first two days of it's mammoth tour. Day two would see no less than four locomotives on show, with day one being hauled throughout by the famous Flying Scotsman. Day two would also see the newly returned Merchant Navy 35018 'British India Line, take her first run over the Settle & Carlisle Railway. Day two would also see the long anticipated pairing of double headed Jubilee's over Beattock and towards Edinburgh. A truly great two opening days for passengers and linesiders as we were all treated to some early summer conditions and some fine locos on show !
The video starts in Cambridgeshire and finishes in Scotland. All locos and locations are featured in the video. I hope you enjoy the video. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
What a fantastic piece of film, superb footage throughout, Stainforth and Elvanfoot to die for, brilliant.
Absolutely enthralling, Liam and Phil. Thank you so much, not just for posting but for the sum total of what went into producing this masterpiece. Kind regards, Bob.
Beautiful shots throughout. Big thank you for posting. Loved the final shot, stunning camera work
I agree....should never have scrapped them all. And now God bless the Director of British Railways Board for having the imeasurable good sense to allow what is left of these fine and beautiful locomotives to stretch their legs on BR metals. Bravo sir! Credit is due where credit is due.
I certainly enjoyed the vid. Something I missed while I was at the NYMR for the weekend. Smashing video Liam.
Absolutely stunning coverage. Those Jubilees ! Oh My :) thanks
Just excellent Mr Marsh
Thanks Alan, glad you enjoyed it.
Absolutely stunning footage on this one gents, particularly that shot from just below Helwith Bridge looking down over the Ribble and Stainforth with the Scar in the background - Wow!!
One of the best views of the S&C in my opinion ! Thanks for your kind comment.
Excellent work you two, and also the planning was amazing.
Thanks Mike, a long two days, but all worthwhile, hope you're well.
This is a superb collection of clips. Well done on all the hard work covering such a wide range of locales. This years GB tour really seems to have hit a sweet spot- some lovely weather, locomotives rising to the occasion, and lineside enthusiasts putting in some great efforts to record it. 👍🏻
A big improvement on recent GB's, hopefully they'll run again next year.
Fantastic especially the Double Headed Jubilees and what wonderful weather!!!
Excellent piece of film, well done and thank you for posting on here.
This was an excellent video with beautiful scenery. Thank you both

Thanks Sue, I knew you would like it, as you have a soft spot for Scotsman. Hope you're well.
"express coming through!!!"
Super images.
Superb set of shots here - well done for your efforts. I especially love the Stainforth shot.
Thanks Julian, it's one of the better shots northbound over the S&C.
Thanks for another wonderful video. The final scene (12:08) of the two Jubilees working together is epic. I also love the charging bull at 6:28. For me the best is the landscape especially at 7:30....great to see the sunshine.
Thanks Keith, very fortunate with the weather and such a great choice of locos over the two days.
Some excellent shots, particularly of the MN and the Jubilees. I was fortunate enough to get a ticket for Day 2 and it was a fantastic day, from Scarborough to Edinburgh. Some great work over the S&C with the Merchant Navy, and then the speed merchants of the two 5Xs. A day to remember! Will you issue it on CD later?
Sounds like you picked the right day, weather and performances ! Don't do DVD'S but all videos will be available on here. Thanks for commenting. Regards, Liam
Superlative !
Wonderful scenery, fantastic camera work , and what can you say about the engine's, very enjoyable.
Thanks David, glad you enjoyed it.
Superb coverage as always Liam, I'll I've got to look forward to is a Black5 and a diesel on the HOW Line....Bob
Thanks Bob, did you get to see the five ?
I'm afraid not, my dear Wife needed the car in the evening Liam, and as the train was three hours late down our way I had to give it a miss....Bob
The shots at Stainforth and Elvanfoot were both brilliant, well done. Are you going to follow the whole tour?
Thanks very much, unfortunately not. Two day's took it's toll, I commend anyone who does the whole nine days.
Wish a Happy Birthday to The Queen.
I will pass on my regards when I see her next week for cream tea !
What camera do you use? To have 4K 2160 Display must be amazing!
