- In this episode, we're kayak fishing for rainbow trout and largemouth bass in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. The rainbow trout are biting, and we quickly catch enough for dinner before switching gears to target largemouth bass. After witnessing a bass feeding on ducklings, I tie on a lure I've never used before, with insane results. Then, back at the RV, we're showing you how to cook up the ultimate rainbow trout recipe using bacon.
COMMENT BELOW and tell me where I should go next and what I should fish for! And ask me any questions you guys have! Has anyone else used a duckling lure?

My lord this video has so much to it. Definitely on my bucket list long with bacon weaved fish
I had the same reaction you did when hiking Black Elk Peak the first time, but it's so rewarding getting to the top. We are glad you enjoyed your time in the Black Hills. Thank you again for taking the time to talk to Braxton, he has been waiting to see this video. You're an awesome person!
Good lord, Rob! After all of your Los Buzos videos, I didn't think I would ever like any place better. I may have been wrong! The Black Hills are stunningly beautiful, the lakes are pristine and it looked like you were fishing in a fully stocked aquarium. There were SOOO many fish! So, congrats on an amazing trip and a wonderful video! I have to go up there someday.
I live there and I go to that lake all the time I love the Black Hills
I fell in love with that place!
This video is phenomenal!! Loved it! 👏❤️😘
You guys slammed it ❤️🦾👑
Cooking fish with bacon , you cannot go wrong:o)
Bacon makes EVERYTHING taste better !!! 😋😋😋😋❤💝❤ Bass on a nest will hit just about anything ! Itt's not about being hungry, but about protecting their nests ! I'm glad you put the salmon wrapped in bacon back on the coals, it did look under cooked !
Wow what a trip! Love the trout recipes great stuff man
Nice work out, fishing and scenery!
Glad to see you posting more videos! Great content brother. Tight lines and safe travels Robert!!
Man the wild life that your seeing is amazing, thanks for sharing your experience with us
I grew up about 300 miles west of the black hills. I never fished with a diver, or a duck. I will next summer. Thanks for the videos.
When your in water that clear . The gold spinners and colors are good along with dark . I always like to try white anywhere I go first ...
Great vid! Lots of high points, Trout great.. Bass footage awesome! Needles rock mountain hike nice... and cook was one of your best!
Kia Kaha Bro!
FWIW
Olive green wooly bugger on a 5 wt slays lake rainbows. For spin cast the yo-zuri swim minnow in the 2.5” size is also awesome.
Great video in a a beautiful place. That face at 52:23 says it all. Thanks Robert.
No thanks Robert fraud
You need to go fishing in the Utah Unitas. Beautiful mountains and awesome fishing
What a beautiful area! That hiking trail seems like a cool adventure. Awesome catch on the duckling lure! Can’t wait to see you catch fish on other cool and unique lures.
FYI, you should target Rock Bass. They are amazing to eat, I didn't know for years. Now I never throw them back if they are sammy size. Good video, beautiful country.
Smaller fire tiger pattern crankbaits were my go to all summer fishing from my kayak. Caught tons of cutthroat and rainbow trout trolling them behind me. Got lucky and managed to hook a small kokanee salmon on one too.
Doing some good livin’ out there!
I’d throw a tube. Here in the northwest we dont use tubes and plastic grubs very often. But both ace videos and cole and jay use tubes or trout magnets, so i bought a couple sets of tubes and they worked great on local river. Way better than spinners.
You should try a mini jig on a 1/16 oz lead head. Pretty much what you would use for crappie. You can give them a much slower presentation, and it tends to catch a lot of fish when they won't commit to the hard baits.
Thank you for the videos they are the best can't wait to go to Panama to go fishing love your videos keep them coming please and thank you
Fighting moning my friend, I hope you and friend goth much fish.
Black Elk Peak is 7,244 feet of elevation which is quite a change from sea level. Lots of beautiful mountain lakes in black hills, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado.
All these videos do is pump me up 😎👍🎣
Pretty much 100 percent 🤑Perfect!
Wow South Dakota delivers big time! Drove to Mt Rushmore and saw the stunning scenery but did not have the time to explore the area. We might need a return trip! I am sure the bacon themed trout was delicious but my cardiologist might not be happy to hear about it.
Nice video man can't wait for the next one
Ah yes the rainbow trout, that should be your next tattoo that fish travels the country as much as you.
Thanks for sharing your videos and I think you need to try zig zag. Or change to a topwater lures. Stay safe thanks again
Definitely lo oks like great eating! Up in this area, we smear rainbows with mayo and coat with brown sugar. Tinfoil and bbq or fire. Tastes way better than it sounds. But how can you beat bacon???? lol
I feel ya. I fished twin lakes Colorado and we were catching trout on a 6th sense curve cranks🤯
Can't wait too see u catch sum big ass Lakers
You are in my family's area now, rapid city. My Dad cracked his tail bone fishing in the mountains. Should have had a kayak back in the 70's. Better watch for mountain Lions and critters.
Great trout episode Rob! Would love to have you in the SF Bay area sometime
This is a really cool series too by the way!! It's very unique and I think I'll have to check some other videos out!!
New to the channel and it’s already awesome
I've always used live bait for trout personally... worms and salmon eggs
Awesome trip! I need to check out that area one summer! Only complaint is those raw tortillas...lmao. You're a Texan dude... show them how it's done!
when they are just following like that try twitching the lure while reeling, i know it kinda sounds weird but its worked for me
Howdy 🤠 Robert ✌️
I've been lining things up for 20 years so I can buy a camper trailer. It's happening next week!!! Heading out of Colorado for the left coast. Washington steelhead for the first time in my life. I think I may have pee'd a little. 'I've never met a single thing that you cook in bacon that didn't get better". A truer statement I have not heard. I assume you're quoting Aristotle!
My cousin could show you some amazing places to hike

Hey Rob, what time of yr were you in south Dakota.? Thinking about planning a trip..
I like how it hit your line as you were trolling. Love crankbaiting for bass here in Michigan. That looked like ideal conditions for fishing!
The trout in Sheridan taste like seaweed and sand

Slow it down a bit or change colors. Turn those followers into biters . Good video . I enjoyed it
Crack the neck of the trout kills instantly and bleeds them out
They don't like the winding sound of your reel.
Everything’s better with bacon
Only a yank would ruin a beautiful fish by cooking it with bacon
Bud. I gave your video a thumbs down. The trout you caught and let go that swam off slowly surely died. These planted rainbows are frail and cannot take the slime removal and rough handling you gave Trout #2. Leaving a stringer in your kayak surely cannot be a weight problem.
