    As a real beginner, I've watched countless videos on how to make a welt pocket. Yours has been the only one that actually makes sense..it all seems so obvious now. can't thank you enough.

    This is one of the most helpful videos I've ever watched! I was completely stumped by my pattern directions, and now I'm ready to make my welt pockets!

    Thank you for making this easy to understand! Spending an hour trying to figure out the patter instructions was a time waster! I love your videos!

    The only video that actually explains all details step by step. I watched a bunch and all skipped over some things or the fabrics all looked the same so it was hard to understand the back and front parts. Thank you so much! It really helped!

    This is such a great tutorial.. I don't sew often enough to remember how to do this off the top of my head. So I keep coming back to this tut for a quick refresher! Thanks for sharing.

    This makes SO MUCH MORE sense than the directions in the (McCall's) pattern. Now I just have to figure out how to use your directions with their pattern pieces. (Not everything is marked the way the demo ones are.) Thanks!

    Thank-you so much for this! It's been years since I made one of these and your tutorial is brilliant-- clear and well explained with excellent visuals, using different fabrics etc. My further challenge is (making a waistcoat for my son for his wedding) that the pocket is on a slant so the welt is a parallelogram rather than an oblong, and I'm doing the whole thing from scratch without a pattern... however, with your instructions I've been able to work it out and adapt, no problem. It would've been very difficult without this and would have taken extra time (which I don't have) and several practice attempts... THANK-YOU!

    You have no idea how helpful this has been!! I've been rifling through videos trying to understand how to do a welt pocket AND I spent about an hour trying to understand the instructions that came with the pattern, but it just didn't make sense! thank you!! now I've just got to figure out how to make the rest of the bloody waistcoat, I'm about halfway through, and the instructions are COMPLETELY useless. and the pictures don't help an ounce :(

      @ProfessorPincushion  Před 8 lety

      +HisForeverr I've been there myself. Try not to go through all the instructions and understand them at once. Just take it one step at a time. I usually have an easier time understanding the step when the garment-in-progress is right in front at me. Sometimes I still make mistakes but you never make the same one twice. good luck!

    Like how to decide placement and cutting the pieces to appropriate size? What to avoid when adding pockets to already sewn garments?

    Thanks for the video, @professor Pincushion :) I have recently got a dress pattern that has asked for a welt pocket, but one that is just for looks and does not include the pocket bag. Do you have a tutorial on this by any chance? I'm having difficulty with following the instructions that come with it.Thanks so much and keep up the great work :)

    It didn't show the sewed seam of the pocket after you showed where to sew it! I was waiting for that to see if you included the little triangle in the seam. Now I'll never know. :(

    Hello Ms. Pincushion, I attend the Art institute of Minneapolis and it is so funny when I hear everyone say that the welt pocket is so complicated. You have always broken things down so nicely for me and I have suggested you to fellow seamstress students. Have you ever made a full wedding dress, ballgown, A-line or any other type? if so what was the most complex part of it?

    • @ProfessorPincushion
      @ProfessorPincushion  Před 9 lety

      Sabrina L I haven't made anything too formal but I think if you break anything down and just take it one step at a time, you can sew anything. I think it's not really particular steps that I find complex but more fabric type that can get me frustrated. If I'm sewing with a fabric that frays, slips and snags, I start to feel the need to break something ;)

    I'm confused as to why you wet the fabric when you were applying the fusible interfacing. Moisture and steam are what is used to remove fusible interfacing. I have never seen anyone else do this.

    • @ProfessorPincushion
      @ProfessorPincushion  Před 8 lety

      +Lisette O I hadn't heard that steam is used to remove fusible interfacing. It's always worked for me for adhering fusible interfacing but definitely reference the instructions that come with yours. Maybe some brands are different but I've never had an issue.
