The rumour about the cow suggested in 77/78 that it happened that year... Same year the Uni Sailing Club did a sponsored 24 hour sail around Leazes pond... The locals were quite amused to find sailing dinghies in the pond in the small hours of a December morning... My shift started about 2am, the young ladies in the party beforehand did not seem enthusiastic about going for a sail after the party... Many happy memories :)
