Welcome to Chasing Latitudes! Have you ever imagined the smell of the ocean air as your boat crashes through the waves? The freedom that comes from casting off the bow lines and heading out to sea to explore new places you can’t reach by car or airplane? Then this channel is for you.
You will not see white sand beaches here, restaurant reviews, beach parties, selfies or Japanese knives. What you will find is factual information based on decades of sailing experience.
My channel is specifically meant for one thing and one thing only, to help YOU find your new to you fancy-dancy yacht of your dreams and get on the water in the fastest, most time efficient manner.
Don’t get caught up in looking at old boats! I focus on mostly newer vessels, built in 2000 or later because I want you to spend as much of your time as possible sailing, not practicing your restoration skills on an old boat attempting to bring it to its former glory.
You want to take advantage of the amazing newer technology and modern hull designs when it comes to sailing. This is going to make your vessel far easier to sail solol or short handed and make them far more comfortable and efficient to live aboard full time or even just weekenders without buying more boat than you need.
I offer a wide variety of services including consulting where I will take you through the entire process of how to budget properly, choosing what vessel size will work for your needs, what type of vessel, I will help you shop for vessels, determine offer prices, schedule surveys, talk with brokers, teach you how to do your own pre-survey, walk you through hiring the correct surveyor and help you avoid all of the common pitfalls that you will find when purchasing used sailing vessels.
The consulting does not stop there, I will be with you every step of the way and long after you have purchased your vessel as consulting also comes with lifetime access to the members area,.
Chasing Latitudes hosts a large, active private members area where the members are more than happy to offer their own experience to solve problems, host private videos for ASA Sailing quizzes (ASA 101, 103, & 104), and live stream videos which feature anything from member cruising to boat shopping, boat comparisons, and other live content with chat from the subscribers to my CZcams channel and channel members.
It’s time for YOU to get on the water. Come aboard!
i would like one day to buy a sail boat i have learnt so much just watching your videos thank you
awesome, thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment.
You don't need to drop the swimplatform to access the life raft there's a top hatch. Still not the easiest to get to
I know, both way's are a giant pain, it gets stuck in there all the time
FYI: the chart table of the Jeanneau 349 has already hinges, is actually flipping up and can be fixed in vertical position!
Test of 10m cruisers of the german magazine 'Yacht'. Fast forward to 4:25! Bench extension is available as an option. czcams.com/video/gSeyBct8_vI/video.html&si=QcirGyXka3wmpDaJ
Even if the market is crashing, if you buy the wrong boat, you’ll crash yourself. Best to get good advice, especially if you are an adult learner..just sayin’
I'm holding out for the tripple helms
Perfect boat for solo or couple.
Was hoping you were gonna look at the Hunter 39. She’s rated for ocean crossing twin helm, just under your 5ft range
I missed a couple , also missed the jeanneau 389,, I'll cover them today 😁
@@ChasingLatitudes thanks Chris
Also had bad luck with Sarah
Facts
Is yacht world different on a cell phone than on a pc? On my phone when I try advance search, it ignores me and goes to a page of boats I didn’t ask for, trying to see what’s for sale in the Bahamas but can’t seem to get a location choice on my phone.
Yeah it sucks on a phone
@@ChasingLatitudes thanks, I’ll fire up the slow laptop
Spring Annapolis Sailboat show is usually in April :)
I was off by a couple months lol
@@ChasingLatitudes This year we attended both the April and October Annapolis sailboat shows. The April show is much, much smaller, especially regarding the breadth of sailboats on exhibit; both in terms of manufacturers as well as number of models on the water. We could have easily taken two full days to tour all of the monohull sailboats at the October show and we spent a day in the APril show touring monohulls as well as some cats.
@@dougwatson821 Yeah I stopped going to the show ages ago, far to crowded for me
@@ChasingLatitudes Yeah, I hear that. We toured most of the sailboats on very wet rainy Saturday which cut the crowds dramatically. There were a few boats we wanted to take a second look at, which we did on sunny Sunday (sorry for the pun).
Glad to see you talk about yourself and what you do Chris. I know it’s not easy and can feel uncomfortable at times. When you shared your apartment fire last year is when I signed up for your 24/7 package. Looking forward to connecting with you soon to get the ball rolling!
Where do find the CEA rating?
on a plaque on the vessel or on the manufacturer website, keep in mind boats made in the states like Catalina don't have a CE rating
You asked if we eat at tables. I'm sitting at a table as I write this, having just eaten my dinner at a table. I thought this was normal.
On a sailboat ?
@@ChasingLatitudes nope, in my house. I don't have a boat yet.
@@IssacTrotts ah, I was referring to a table on a boat, I probably should have made that more clear
Another successful delivery. I would say congratulations but I don’t think you would see it as doing anything special
You're hilarious dude. I'd love to go sailing with you
Dude you are not eating with a plate on your lap and getting your Cheeto hands on my pillows!
is the cat live-aboard market crashing too ?
It's about time the market crashes, Boats have been "WAY OVER PRICED" for a long time now. The market needs to drop another 50%. Then I will start seriously looking.
Agree
Think 2000 and 2008 is what is coming. Stock market is at all time highs right now, and we have more debt than ever before all around the world. The corrupt oligarch globalists want us eating bugs and owning nothing. This crash will last for years. I hope everyone is saving up and getting rid of debt right now, it's not going to be a fun time for some. I'd say 50% off sailboats is about right.
Thanks for everything especially your extra dry humour ! We have a similar vocabulary probably from sitcoms or college in the 80’S Boomshakalaka. My favourites are the digs on the popular sponsored spoiled vloggers. If you are ever in a funk and need a lift my friend because life is hard , I read a poem that was my dads favorite called IF by Rudyard Kipling so on that note,,,,,,,Merry Christmas and good luck, good health, and good fortune to you and all the people you care about. Peace on earth and ocean
Thank you for watching, one of the most hilarious is Uma pretending they lived full time on the boat while just renting a place and then getting a 120k jeep to cruise around
My son and I want to help you deliver a boat. Do I have to be part of the Patreon to be able to do that?
Yes
@@ChasingLatitudes got it.
