    Hey Chuck.. I'm X.B. from 114. Helpful hint... Hook at least one safety chain when pulling dolly with truck around yard. Pindle hooks have been known to open and dolly goes running away. Not good if it hits another truck.

      I drive for ups and there's been a ton of safety videos of guys bobtailing with a dolly and said dolly goes for a ride by itself because it didn't have a safety chain on. Do always put at least one on.

    I hope all is well with you brother. Can’t wait for the next video. I just want to take the time to thank you. I was in a bad place in my management career and I needed a change. I was constantly working until 10-11pm and hardly ever saw my wife or two year old son. Your videos gave me the idea to pursue a new career, so I quit my job in retail after 14 years, went to trucking school, and yesterday I passed my CDL final exams. In a short time I start with my local Coca Cola distributor where I’ll be able to get some miles under my name and have a much better work/ life balance. Thank you for providing the content that helped me take the jump into something new. Much love brother! Stay safe!

    I did linehaul for vitran. The only complaint I ever had was I never seemed to get any sleep whatsoever. Was always tired. Of course we also had to work the dock at every terminal we went to. Except the dark ones of course. My run was Joplin Missouri to Tulsa Oklahoma then turn and burn for St Louis Missouri. Sleep in a hotel then leave for Tulsa and then back track to Joplin. I was glad when the offered me a city job. I got burned out quick.

    I’m thinking seriously of moving from my present company to Estes. I’ve been an OTR driver for about 24 years. I’m just gonna say it like it is: I believe I would do a really good job at this, meaning, pulling doubles, a.k.a. a wiggle wagon. The one issue I may have, to which I would invite your commentary/advice on is that I drink a lot of coffee, about one pot/day. I have given up all other vices in my life, I do not smoke, I do not drink, I do not corouse with women I am not married to. Coffee is the last vice I have left that I enjoy and dang it, I am not giving up my coffee! However, what this means is that when nature does call, I am absolutely required by the laws of nature to pull over someplace and answer that call. I suppose what I am asking is, if I come to work for these people, pull a wiggle wagon, one night while driving I absolutely have to relieve myself and have no other choice, but to pull along the side of the road, what will the good people at Estes say if they see me pull along side on the shoulder of the interstate for the purpose of doing my duty. Would that be a fireable offense?

    Lmfao, I got fired from Estes 3 years ago for doing this because 'its against our safety and security policy', aka 'we scrubbed the tandem 48' account and hired somebody for your run but we didn't want to pay a severance package so we made some shit up'.
    Piece of advice though from a ny tandem driver, never ever ever move that dolly without chains on it, if that hook pops or breaks on you and you don't have chains on it it's a very messy situation

    • @TheTulsaTrucker
      @TheTulsaTrucker  Před 3 lety +1

      A line haul driver can be a bid run driver that works m-f pulling trailers from home terminal to a meet person or another terminal and then goes back home or a LH can be extra board that goes out for 5 days moving from terminal to terminal and stays in a hotel for their 10 hour break and then goes home for 2 days. A flex team is of course two drivers that have a sleeper truck that have to stay out for a minimum of 2 weeks and the. Can go home for 3 days. Hope that helps answer your question.

    Hey Chuck. Got a question for you regarding P&D side of the house... when a driver heads out for deliveries then pick ups, is there computer routing in the trucks that sends y’all on a most efficient route, or is routing up to the driver to figure out? I know UPS Freight & FedEx Freight use computer generated routes that’s programmed into the computers in the trucks. Is it the small with most LTL companies when it comes to P&D?

    • @TheTulsaTrucker
      @TheTulsaTrucker  Před 3 lety +1

      It’s up to the drivers. We are not doing 70-80 stops like those guys. We are doing 18-20 per day so we run the freight as it’s loaded and then pick-ups are at our discretion based on cut off times.
