      @@niksterrr1110 Switched from Libertarian to Republican for reasons of practicality, but I'm basically a heavily Libertarian-leaning individual. My problem is the national LP is a legitimate embarrassment on the political stage. It's the state LPs that are where true change can and will occur with candidates like Larry Sharpe running in state elections. The 2016 LP convention was a disgrace, Gary Johnson was a lukewarm Libertarian at best, and the people currently running for the nomination in 2020 are just complete jokes of candidates. Let's be real, anarcho-capitalism is an incredibly marginal idea and people like Adam Kokesh are never going to be elected. Not to mention, I've watched him give speeches and lectures and he isn't an inspiring or eloquent individual. I also watched Steven Crowder rips his ass apart on a few issues in an interview once, which was hilarious.
      Like I said, currently registered GOP, but I'm not ideologically wed to the party. My first party registration was Libertarian, but I'd rather just do what the tea party people want to do and take over the GOP. Things seem to be going in that direction anyway, with the Bernie Sanders wing of the Democratic party slowly eating it alive. Plus, we still have people like Justin Amash (essentially the same kind of Republican I am) in the party. Libertarian Republicans.

      I really believe we need to compete with republicans, oust them, along with dems. Republicans and dems are both imperialists, for one, that's not Libertarian at all.
      George Bush gave us Homeland Security, and eroded our rights away, Obama continued the foreign intervention, re instated NDAA, and Homeland Security = they are on the same imperialist agenda. We should not make the mistake of thinking republicans are closer to libertarians, strengthening their numbers and limiting our growth. It is the over reaching over bearing federal govt that holds us back, so, a poor libertarian is better than a good republican if you want any change. Stay loyal to your own ideals , settling for republican representatives only pushes back the Libertarian movement.

    Mr. Levy didn't touch much upon gay marriage. I can understand why. True Libertarians are against the government intruding on the institution of marriage, which is the sole invention of the church. The government has no constitutional right to be in the marriage business at all. No law should be passed that encourages it or discourages it through the tax code or any other code. Using government to force the church to redefine marriage is not fairness. It's just more BIG government intrusion.

  • @RagaDagga
    @RagaDagga Před 11 lety +8

    The constitution is pretty clear about what powers the federal government has. The tenth amendment specifically says that the federal government ONLY has the authority in the few specific areas that the constitution lists, such as immigration and interstate commerce, nothing more. Anything not specifically mentioned as the power of the feds, is under the authority of the states. The tenth amendment also says that citizens are NOT limited only to the rights mentioned in the constitution.

I take it as a sign of how insecure they probably feel, and how good our arguments are. Good video though. I hope they do a lecture on why people with a career in politics hate libertarians. My guess is because libertarianism requires a lot more personal responsibility when compared to the other political doctrines.

    I think the thing is,speaking as someone who become a Libertarian in 2019, is we need to find some common ground while still standing for our liberty and constitution! What we're going through right now has proven that more true than ever! And instead of arguing, why don't we have intelligent discussion instead of yelling and screaming at each other? If we can agree, we can agree. If we don't agree, we don't agree and we can still choose to get along!

    Many libertarians do believe that abortion is murder. There are two prevailing libertarian thoughts on abortion. One is that preventing a woman from controlling a natural function of her body is an initiation of force against her (and the unborn baby is essentially a parasite), but the other opinion is that killing the fetus is an act of agression against the child who must be protected. These two different views are interpretations of the libertarian philosophy of the non-aggression principal.
