Boston Whaler 280 Vantage (2021) - Test Video

  • Even though Boston Whaler has a winning recipe with the 270 Vantage, it was not an excuse to sit back and give a toast to the design team. That’s not the Boston Whaler way. The next step was to sit back down at the table and improve on the design. For that, Whaler needed to look no further than the “voice of the customer.” There’s no better yardstick than a customer’s opinion. Armed with this data, the design team set to work at making a winning boat even better. And the result is the 280 Vantage.

Very functional boat. Boston whaler did a great job in making this simple yet functional for all types of boaters

Yes. Many receptacles everywhere. Bev receptacles. Trash receptacles. Storage receptacles. Receptacles aplenty.

Captain Steve does not do "reviews".... he does inspections and evaluations.

I am extremely glad to see that a boat manufacturer is taking into consideration a bow ladder for those of us that do island beach hopping.

We have a 16 ft 1967 Whaler...still looking and running good. Putting a new Evinrude on it once the Canadian border opens and we US citizens can go to their Canadian cottages.

We love everything about this new model, except the price. Can't justify nearly $300k for a boat that we only get to use once or twice a week on Lake Erie for 6 or 7 months a year. If we had waterfront property in a warmer climate perhaps.

      Pursuit 295DC: $260k base w/ dual 300hp
      Boston Whaler 280 Vantage: $250k base w/ dual 250hp
      Cobia 280DC: $190k base w/ dual 250hp

@@chicosajovic7680 I will say that Whalers are great at holding their values though! a 2014 Vantage 270 was $135k base. in 2020 that boat has only lost about $30-40k of value at right around $100k for a base boat according to NADA. The 2020 Vantage 270 base model goes for $165k. If you bought new in 2014 and sold in 2020 that boat only cost you at most $40k for 7 years. That's pretty good! Can the other brands do that? We are going to experience serious inflation in the next 5-10 years. Buying an expensive boat will only get more expensive...

@@jonnyspeed Glad to see your math. I traded 2020 230 Outrage with a 300 mercy that wasn't the right boat for me for the 280 Vantage with twin 250's. Dealer gave me about what I paid for the 230 and a discount on the 280. If it holds its value like you say, I have a heck of a boat and my cost of ownership will be manageable. It is an amazing boat.

No galley, no fridge, no shore power, no ability to get away from bugs or weather. A very expensive day boat that can’t be easily towed.
