I second his comment about visiting Mexico during the pandemic, I spent two weeks there (Akumal), I felt no less safe than being in the US (NY/NJ). I had a great time, Xmas 2020 and NYD 2021!

I have not been to Mexico in 56 years so it is nice to see what things are like. I also retired early at age 39 and headed to Asia and pretty much never left. Lots of scuba diving, snorkeling, hiking and inflatable kayaking rivers has kept me pretty busy. Where ever you go be happy! Life is what you make of it.

Great interview, Bobby! You love to scuba, you have a GoPro, you have a new light for your GoPro....so I was hoping to find some underwater videos when I clicked on your name. Maybe a good project for when you get to Bali? (BTW, that's my favorite place in Asia - $12/night for a perfectly reasonable hotel room in Ubud, including breakfast is hard to beat! But probably going to end up in Canggu next time, so I can be closer to the beach.)

Wow Bobby is a great guy and his apartment is beautiful. I love that it is all inclusive with air conditioning and a rooftop pool. That little place is all me and my wife need and we love to walk everywhere. The beach is close and the shopping even closer. It also sounded like there are bars for the nightlife within walking distance. You have been saying it in your videos and here is the proof, what more can you ask for? โค๏ธ๐จ๐ฆโค๏ธ Cheers!!!

Greg from Canada here. Great video but folks really need to read your linked to comments to understand the context of how Bobbie was able to get his apartment so cheap. In normal times, this wouldn't be possible unless, as you point out, one arrives in the off season and negotiates a long term stay. Once Covid is over, who knows if even that will be possible at such low rates, (regardless of month of arrival) and one has to think the price will be higher. Good for Bobbie, though! Interesting guy. Thx once again!
You're right and it is high season at the moment. That said there are deals to be found. Like Dan does and I did, it is often better to arrive first for a 3-7 day stay and then look around for location and price before going long term.

Thatโs a great price for such a nice place. I pay only about $100 a month less after everything included in Cozumel but My place is not as nice as his. I donโt have a pool either. Lodging is usually more expensive in Cozumel.

I am a widow, retired and currently living in CO, USA. I am considering of going to Mexico for a month or so by myself (first time to go solo) My question is, would it be safe to travel there on my own? Iโm thinking of Puerto Vallarta for now.
Can you recommend a good safe place to rent either an ARBNB or an apartment whichever is best in PVR, that is walkable to like groceries, testaurants, the Malecon and beaches just to name a few.
A feedback would be very much appreciated

was worth asking about not too often that we are going to near the same spot. I have no idea where Iโm going after my three months in Puerto Morelos, but will let you know where I end up just in case we end up being in the โsame neighborhood โ so to speak. Stay safe you two !!
Advice to moving to the west. Puerto Vallarta all the way or slightly to the north in nariyait. Cabo is overrated unless you prefer the desert or the fishing.

@@VagabondAwake I checked with security and the prices start at 15,000 pesos now... near $750us. Almost double from last year and I am asking in rainy season... just yesterday.

No. We just withdrawal money from ATMs using my Charles Schwab Card. If we need to send money we use BofA Bill Pay or Transferwise.

I would be so stoked to score on that apartment! I liked the Philippines better, but he's a hop, skip away from the states? I would stay in that apartment and fly to the San Francisco Bay area once or twice a month, and be totally happy!

Are the rents cheaper now because of covid? If so what would be regular monthly rates for that condo in normal times?
COVID hasn't slowed tourism in this area. Since Mexico is the only place open it still has a large tourism industry. The new rule requiring a PCR test to re-enter the USA may have an affect. We will know in a few weeks.

My wife is Vietnamese and after 32 years she retired and I am about to retire as well, we are both 56 and love to travel, so hope to be living somewhere warm for months at a time. I am Indonesian American, but will retired in Yucatan peninsula, don't know yet which city. My kids and possible grandkid in US can visit in short flight. This is nice to know.
