    I have been looking for this exact tow topic for my 22 GTI's. No BS. I hope I never need to clamp these off, but if I do I know where to. And I was planning on using red duct tape like you did so there won't be a question when/if I needed to do it. Awesome vid! Thank You!

      I can see from CZcams analytics, that 3% of people that have watched this video did so because they searched broken toe. 😂

    Lewis, have a great trip to Bimini and looking forward to Christine's explanation of the adventure!
    I think on the 2021(which I also have and also an older ski) you appear to have pulled off the engine cover that covers half of the hull. Not hard, but likely a bit cumbersome in an emergency. I might just opt to tow at 20 or less... not sure. But thanks for a great explanation.

      Thank you! We actually just got back from Bimini, had a great time. The next video will be the crossing from Miami.
      You are correct about needing to remove the engine cover. I probably could have explained that better. If the ski is floating it probably would not be to difficult to remove. Otherwise I would first tow it to a beach at slow speed, apply the clamp and then continue.

    2023 GTX 230 owner here. We can't reach the line at all without removing the entire deck. So the tow tap is essentially the only way you can do this. You install a long piece of hose that goes from the line source at the stern and run it to the front where it's accessible, then return to the back. Zero issues doing this. It just adds a second or two before the water gets to the exhaust. Which isn't an issue. Once there's water in the line, there is no delay anymore. I've done hundreds of hours on a jet boat and now my ski, both with tow taps, no issues. For anybody reading this with a similar situation.

      Thanks for sharing. You are correct, the under seat plate must come off. If the ski is floating this is easy enough with a t30 and 10mm. It it is going under, I'd tow it slowly to a beach to get the plate off. One guy also mentioned he was able to get it using a 90° pair of pliers without having to take the plate off. I imagine he is doing it by feel.

      @WeekendersontheWater by feel, impressive! FYI, I was also able to install the valve without cutting at all. Just replaced the very short hose before it splits to the intercooler (supercharged obviously). The deck is obviously doable, just not fun. Lol good videos btw.

    The only time I use the tow tap is for jazz.

    So it’s virtually impossible to reach that hose on the newer GTI’s without having the whole cover pulled off because I’m obviously not removing the whole back cover

    • @WeekendersontheWater
      @WeekendersontheWater  Před 16 dny

      I didn't explain it in the video, but you can reach it with a 90° clamp. Although I still think it's best to just take off the cover. Put a t30 and a 10 mil in your emergency kit. As long as the ski is floating it's easy enough to remove, if the ski is sinking quickly tow it to the nearest beach at slow speed and then clamp.

    Pinch pliers...don't worry with that convoluted tubing, just pinch it as well as the hose.

    Wow. Good information. Something that I am not very knowledgeable on. It’s always good to have the tool and not need it rather than need it and not have it.
    So I’m assuming you are also carrying a socket wrench along with you and that T 30 to get the deck off as well if ever needed?

    • @WeekendersontheWater
      @WeekendersontheWater  Před měsícem +1

      Absolutely need the t30 and a 10mm! I've always been surprised at how few places there are to find this info. Everyone will say you need the toe tab, or the clamp, but no one will tell you where to put it. Lol
