This is the only time I watched my favorite football player of all times - Johan Cruyff - live from the seats of Maksimir stadium in Zagreb. And yes the weather was dreadful :)
Ok, where was he ?
Good night. Thabk you so much for the video. Like and gratitude from Baku city
Czechoslovakia were a revelation in the 1976 European Championship finals.
They had lost 3-0 to England but came back strongly to defeat Holland 3-1 in extra time in the semfinals and then edged out reigning champions West Germany on penalty kicks after a 2-2 draw in extra time to win the Cup.
1-0 Anton Ondruš (19 min)
1-1 Anton Ondruš (73 min (OG))
2-1 Zdeněk Nehoda (114 min)
3-1 František Veselý (118 min)
I'm Dutch and Czech...shall I cry or laugh? I'll laugh!
Czechoslavakia KO 2 giants (Netherlands and West Germany).
Like the Danes in 1992 if you beat these teams in the semi-final and in the final you deserve to be the European champions.
Clive Thomas was up to his usual standards (or should that be down) but Holland didn't seem to be bothering to defend. Total Football took a night off.
kämpferische Leistung :D Super
So, now, if someone asks you what was the weather like in Zagreb, on June 16, 1976 - you could give a competent answer!
Looks like total football wasn't so total after all.
Dutch defence played like it was bribed.
Hahaha, Außenseiter ! Und ein Wundertor von Johan Cruyff , wunderbar. Ich habe immer die deutsche Kommentatoren geschätzt.
das war der österreichische Kommentar
Holland crash out with Cruyff once again contributing little as he often did around that time. He was great at telling others what to do - directing the team - but like Eusebio, he only really did it himself before he became a household name. Towards the end at Ajax and apart from one season at Barcelona and occasionally at the 1974 World Cup Finals, he coasted on his reputation. A shame because he could really 'play'.
Are you saying he is overrated ?
@@princesofthepower3690 Not at all - he was one of THE great post 1950s players - it's just that for me, by the mid 1970s he didn't do it enough in important matches for whatever reason. I think the greatest players must play for the full 90 minutes, not confining themselves to brilliant flashes that bring goals and long rest periods in between.
They say that power corrupts, and so it does and in football there is another devil - money. When a player has acquired enough money he quite naturally starts to think that keeping his legs in one piece is more important than entertaining the fans, and knowing that there are opponents who will kick him if he turns it on. They are entitled to do that - if they can get away with it.
@@Ruda-n4h you may have missed it but this guy changed football forever.
@@ahmetbirsel5853 To a point. I'm not disparaging his ability just his attitude, which may have been affected by factors I'm not aware of. I just like my greats to play for the whole 90 minutes e.g. Di Stefano.
@@Ruda-n4h more than his ability with the ball, it's his ability to analyze the field and the positions of players. This vision not only brought Ajax to the world scene but created Barcelona as an international team and the Barcelona style that we know today. Can we say anything similar regarding another great?
Awful defending for the second Czech goal. Talk about a free header!
Czechoslovakia showed what real total foodball looks like...that year they beat both finalist of 1974 world cup ( Holland and Germany)...unreal....but of course they belonged to the communist block so they never got the recognition as one of the best teams ever....politics always trumps sports...it's f***ing sad....
but it was a very short period! Exactly 2 games
Zeni Nimoni has nothing to do with communism. Can’t be one of the greatest teams ever unless you win the World Cup.
The Czechoslovak teams of the 60s and 70s were amazing through.
S K I dont subscribe to your statement that you have to win a world cup to be one of the greatest teams ever. Two examples. Team Hungary 1954 and Team France 1982.
RAINER HENNIGER Hungary’54 is probably my favorite team ever. I wish they were better remembered - greatest team to not win a World Cup. Absolutely dominant, beat England 7-1 at Wembley and beat west Germany 8-3.
Great team? Yes. However you can’t be considered among the greatest of all time if you have no world cups. It’s the ultimate competition.
RAINER HENNIGER Also Netherlands 1974
Ale Czechosłowacy, nasi bracia Słowianie, rozjebali tych dumnych tulipanów!
in Zagreb :)
slovenska reprezentacia z roku 1976 ,8players slovakia 3 czech
I think it matters who is leaving the union first. Serbia has Yugoslavian achievements because the others seceded first, the last one being Muntenegru. In Soviet Union was the same . Many athletes were not ethnic Russian but when everybody seceded from Soviet Union only Russia remained so they inherited everything. I think is the same with Czech republic and Slovakia . Slovakia wanted out of the union.
1:0 Anton Ondruš
1:1 Anton Ondruš
😁
😢
В ссср небыло трансляции этого чемпионата. А кто знает почему..??? Не иза Иосифа Бростито ли...???!!!!
11 rotters Czechs in a field infamous ... I still can't figure out how they lost ... the natural final was to be a rematch of WC '74 ... GER-HOL ... but football is also nice for this
No Czechs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but Czechoslovaks !!!!!! In final were 8 Slovaks and 3 Czechs :)
Exactly 8 Slovaks and 3 Czechs + Veselý who was a substitute and assisted on 2:1 and scored the 3rd himself was also Czech. So, it´s more like 8:4 of the players who won the trophy with Slovaks outnumbering Czechs. And I am Czech. Slovaks are overlooked.
Less talented side? They won the Euro 1976 so Czech Rep must had some talent.
I am Czech but most of the team were Slovaks, actually. The 2nd and 3rd goals were scored by Czechs - Nehoda and Veselý. And also, Panenka who decided the final game was Czech. But the truth is that media credit Czech Republic with winning Euro 1976 when it was Czechoslovakia and the majority of the team were Slovaks.
Panenka, Nehoda, Viktor and Vesely were Czechs, the rest were all Slovaks I think.
Total football is onderdeilen..!
Cruyff pecho frío.
Bad night at the office for Holland. Clearly the better team....but goals count. The weather too favours the less talented side. Appalling weather.
Nothing "less talented" about the Czechs' third goal. If that had been Cruyff in all-white calmly rounding the 'keeper on a soaked and slippery pitch to score it would be included in every 'Magic Moments' clip compilation showcasing his abilities.
.... better team my arse (Cruyff .... lol) .... the czechs had that beautiful talent of turning over the "NEVERLANDS" .... ;0) .... i believe that did it again in 2004 after going behind too 2 offside goals .... Czech it out clogger .... ;0}
.... you on fucking drugs you prick .... laughable ;0]]]]]]]]]]]
holland played 1 good tournament in football history, but didn't manage to close the door due to their arrogance!
@@berndeigner8837 Exactly. That’s why the Germans beat them in 74’ , didn’t show them enough respect and their lack of experience in Big Finals really showed .
To byly casy...
