One thing to make the ranger flavor more useful would be for favored enemy to work after observing any creature for an hour and favored terrain to work after being in a terrain for 24 hours
Theres also the revised ranger that gives you better features but it still lacks a defined identity cause now it feels like a nature/wis rogue subclass
