good goldies figured out ways to make it work before (BT trading with chain hurtboxes gives him a +300 or w/e knockdown), they were getting better at the matchup before they got the "ok i wanna win now" button

go into training mode and record 3 slots for an axl doing 2H into either 214K, 214[K], or no cancel and just block, then have them cycle randomly after reset/block/etc. if u practice swinging ur big butones thru tornado, youll start putting the fear of cheeseburgers in those blokes
lewis is the only character where the more you block the more health you lose

Do you by any chance know Amane Nishiki from Blazblue? His entire gameplan consists into forcing the opponent to block and cheap them to death.

this matchup sucks this patch. whether you're getting blasted by wwa, you're stuck in the corner with no resources, or goldlewis refuses to die after two wallbreaks, this matchup actively causes depression
goldlewis is just one bulky dude that abuses everything that's strong in s3, while axl is glass and the spammability of burst means he gets reversaled a lot
This is true, but that Axl shouldn't break the wall that often vs GL, nor do charged tornado nor end a blockstring with snail without meter. Most of the rounds he lost was him being reckless.
As a Goldlewis main I see nothing wrong with this matchup this season
though matchups for goldlewis and aba and slayer are considered to have bad matchups against axl, i think the key is that these matchups are horribly unfun for both characters. for the axl, you are forced to play an exclusive zoning playstyle instead of running the reckless offense that most axls play the character for, because all it takes is one slip up to have all your health removed and the game lost
also the having all your health removed is still prone to happen EVEN WITH your boring but save zoning style

Itâs just an inherently broken move, itâs not fair to be plus and guard crush and be invincible and be unreactable, nago and lewis just make fighting them absolutely unbearable ESPECIALLY LEWIS with the âresource tradeâ stuff. bed and potemkin kinda need it though which really sucks because theyâre paying for the sins of the top tiers
It's conceptually stupid. Let's give characters built around a struggling to get in, a move that makes it extremely easy to get in. What could go wrong with that?
both, wwa is really stupid and it meshes with goldlewis' kit in the most broken way imaginable because he is supposed to crutch on drone to rush the opponent down and gives him really generous pressure resets that he normally cant get which is a really, really big deal on a character centered around short high-stakes pressure
It's both the character and wwa combined. Example? Bedman with wwa isn't as much of an issue.
It's that Gold with wwa is an issue because he's a big body with few big body issues. Great hitboxes on his normals, a legit AA and his 2P, 5p and 6P.
Good neutral control bot, a very great projectile, he punishes you for blocking harder than most of the cast sans Nago.
Even nago isn't rewarded to this extent, Nago still has to try and open you up by burning resources, but Gold puts all the pressure on the defender.
Guard crush not having gran invul, fast RC and kara BT and having an ambiguous moveset.
Nagos wwa is rough to deal with but doesn't lead to the same disproportionate reward and has to be charged in order to be in range to try and go for bite.
Landing nago wwa doesnt give a hard knock down either, it pops you into the air which leads to really strange interactions from both the defender and the nago.
The number of times they straight up miss follow ups because of how wonky nagos normal are is pretty high.
Theres a stopping point to Nagos offense whereas Gold just goes on and gets exponentially worse when he has meter.
i think wild assault is fine tbh. the only character i play that utilizes it is bedman?, but even playing against it; itâs really not that bad. i think red and blue more annoying tbh

I can get dooming about a matchup in an older fighting game, but this is a modern fighting game, no character in modern fighting games is truly that unbalanced, not even XRD johnny or strive sol.
@@z1u512 Pressure is definitely still something you have to win as GL, from an ideal pressure starter as gl you mostly run strike throw first and then if that doesnt work out you try to use mix and greedy resets to either catch a stray hit to hitconfirm into oki or maybe get a big confirm if the opponent presses instead of disengaging

Gorilla strive is not a competitive game. That is, of course, you can compete using gorillas from the meta, but technical and risk characters like Millia are not needed here. Nothing has changed for 3 years now. The meta of the game is braindead cheap garbage with broken damage, or a broken autopilot that just skips neutral and cuts you off in the corner. these are two extremes in this game. and Millia is stuck somewhere in the middle, powerless against them. Garbage game. the worst thing they could have done to the series. narrow, variable-free tunnel and gutted gameplay.
don't mind me. I'm a fake, just like your game. Strive is fake guilty gear. I just canât believe that after a masterly xx or even xrd, they released this shame. Itâs not surprising that this dirty game has gathered the worst and most prejudiced community around it.
