The first week is pretty hard but after that you should catch some waves.. It depends from person to person though.
on the john john vs medina debate: this list isnt a best contest winner list its a best surfer list. Dont get me wrong gabriel medina is rad but john john has one of the best surfing styles round - super clean and stylish.
I wish they would put the location on every scene. That's as interesting to me as the ride.

Nike didn't bail on surfing. Nike owns Hurley and they were both competing with each other for the top spot, so Nike just moved their surfers to Hurley, so that they can focus on snowboarding. If you watch any of the new clips of the former Nike team riders, they still wear the Nike suits, and Nike is still their shoe sponsor. It's not like they just dropped all of their riders mid-contract.

Secondly, if this list was about the best at contest winning sure medina has won two contests already but think about the waves on tour. I would tip john to place higher than gabriel at bells (already done), fiji, chopes, pipe and portugal with gabriel beating john at snapper (which didnt happen), brazil and france. Not sure about santa cruz, and trestles could go either way (though if i had to choose anyone from this movie it would be kolohe). just some food for thought...
There is only one surfer from the USA in the top 10 at the moment.. All the best surfers in the world are from Australia.
