But I do have to correct you on the timing change you talk about - there is no such thing in the band's recording that I have always heard - and I just went to listen to it to make sure I wasn't kidding myself. The verse definitely remains in 4/4 time, nice and steady. I just searched for a live version to see if they changed the way they play it live, and on the one I clicked on, the way the percussion is done could come across like a change in steady beat to a less-trained rhythm ear, but still is definitely a steady 4/4.
