- A homemade kalimba made of discarded materials. Its tines are too rigid, so playing barehanded will get your thumbnails chipped and ground just within 2 minutes. Hence I use two pieces of a clothespin to pluck.

That is awesome! I have 4 kalimbas in common western scale tunings, and octave ranges, but I've always wanted one in a much lower register, with a deep, sonorous tone. So I clicked on this thumbnail, and there it was!!!!!! Great sounding instrument. You're a gifted player....
