    Jeff, your the only one that IV seen that talks about new york state in any of there videos. That's the state I live in and hunt. I really think it's cool that a big time name like yours talks about little old new york. I'll take any info you got about hunting new york. Cause we're not like the big deer states. Our season only goes from October 1 til Dec 22. Thanks again Jeff

    I love your videos, very educational. The one caveat is this-I live in middle Georgia and I don't see any movement after a cold front. I recently went out after a heavy thunderstorm with rising barometric pressure and nothing. I have experienced this over and over. Can you clarify if this is a regional difference in behavior?

    • @Valetic6
      @Valetic6 Před 4 lety

      I’ve been hunting Georgia for 20 years. On the Alabama border west of Atlanta, the border a little more south, and middle southern GA. My experience is that it can be a terrible deer state no matter what. Seems like there’s only 2 or 3 good weeks to go out every year. And also the more south I go the better it seems to get.
      My advice, play the wind or get hella good at scent blocking, and get good at calls and rattling the different parts of the months. Those things will help you tremendously no matter what state you’re in.
      The last time I hunted, I pulled out the rattle bag, hit the big buck grunt a couple of times, and some does came running in not 30 seconds later. They were being chased by a button buck and spike. They stopped, checked out the area 20 yards from me, and the males let out a couple of mating grunts. I let them pass in hopes a bigger buck would’ve noticed all the commotion coming through. And sure enough, a 2 or 3 year old 8 point came waltzing hot on their trail. I let him get in my shooting lane, hit the grunt to get him to stop, and the rest is history.
      Bottom line, I feel Georgia is terrible no matter what the weather says. It might help here and there, and maybe even the red moon phases might be of a slight advantage. Everywhere I’ve hunted there just aren’t enough mature bucks to go around and it’s a pretty darn lucky year if you get one, or at least something that’s bigger in antler score than a basket rack. They’re out there but hard to come by.

    Jeff, I'm a little confused. If a cold front is coming through. Is it best to wait for the weather to start improving or do I hunt the cold front itself. In the video it appears the temp is 73 and it drops to 56. Do I hunt the drop at 56 degrees that day, or do I wait for the weather to start getting better?

  • @mictjustin
    @mictjustin Před 6 lety +1

      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  Před 5 lety +1

      Jeff, I’m noticing today Wednesday the Baro dropped to 28.87 and rises up to 30.07 on Thursday but with 22 mph winds then come Friday morning it drops to 35 degrees from a low of 42 the day before. Would it be safe to say not a good day in the woods because of one main element “Wind”? Now on Friday I think this is the setting you prefer morning low of 35 colder than the day a before, low winds, stable pressure of 30.05 and sunny. Would Friday be better than a 22 mph day on Thursday? Just started reading your food plot book, love it so far...

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  Před 5 lety +2

      @@perrybowers344 man, what a GREAT point! And this is why I did not include BP in my weather formula. BP is merely a reflection and not an indicator. I write in my new book All Weather Whitetails that the bp shouldn't even be considered...and what you point out is one great reason. It isn't much different than the moon. Although I think the moon alone...although a very slight indicator...is actually a tangible indicator (light), compared to BP.
      I hope that helps and that is great that you like that book! I hope you get a chance to read the rest too...

    • @perrybowers344
      @perrybowers344 Před 5 lety +1

      Whitetail Habitat Solutions that pretty much does, basically with all the variables and indicators the overall is stability. Post fronts we should be looking for stability with a drop in temps as a bonus. I will be buying more books and starting a note book with highlights. Thanks for all that you are willing to share!

    Hello sir. I am a new hunter. Trying to develop a strategy for next year. How fat away is scent important? I mean is there an amount of yards where it becomes irrelevant? I ask because I'm hunting a property with tall pines in the middle that the deer don't seem to like. Also hunting with other hunters.
