    Sir, Two very important points I never fully understood or appreciated until viewing this video: Without exaggeration during the drill I'll never change the bad habits. And Two: Without continuing rotation, shanking the ball results. You are one of the best teachers on CZcams and I thank you for sharing your knowledge.

    Discovered your channel a few weeks ago and absolutely love your content. I live locally to you in Essex and was hoping to book some in person lessons but I see from one of the comments below that you only do online lessons now. If you start doing in person lessons again do let me know as I would be very interested in booking something up with you.

    Great video Jonathan - your teaching has changed the way I approach a golf shot - I now feel like I rotate through the shot rather than attempt to hit the ball - one thing confused me is that when I initially keep the logo on the glove pointing down in the backswing I then find I simply have to rotate my forearm (and op then open the face) to complete my backswing) Given this is the case why is it so open to start with a closed face when you know it will have to open eventually for a full backswing?

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  Před 3 lety +1

      Awesome to hear David! After shaft parallel to the ground in the takeaway, make sure you complete your backswing via your backswing rotation, rather than a forearm move 👍🏼

    I've tried the drill with setting up with the closed club face before and I have no problem keeping the ball from going left. But when I viewed my video my hands weren't any farther forward and I couldn't tell what I was doing to keep the ball from going left.

    Hi! Do you have a drill to avoid the chicken wing swing?

  • @ayotollaofrockandrolla7219

    I’ve been doing drills similar to this for over 5 seasons now . I can do it when I swing at 50% speed . But once I go after it all my bad habits creep in :( . And been practicing at least 2-3 times a week . So frustrated

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  Před 3 lety +1

      It’s definitely a very stubborn problem to fix, but with enough intentional focused practice the problem will get fixed 👍🏼

  • @Norcam47

    Nice drill!. I tend to close the club face most of the times, but when I try to finish with my hands far forward, I shank the ball horribly. No idea why...😩

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  Před 3 lety +2

      That’s due to not rotating and just forcing the hands forward. Rotation creates the shaft lean and also curves the hand path around your body. If the hands are forced forward, they will disconnect from the arc and the hosel will meet the ball first 👍🏼

    • @Norcam47
      @Norcam47 Před 3 lety +1

      @@jchowngolf Thank you so much for your explanation. I agree, I have issues rotating my body. I tried your drill with the stick this afternoon and things look much better!!!!.

    Hey 👋 Johnothan, I tried this 3 step process at the range the other day and all I did was SHANK ball after ball after ball trying to keep the hands forward. Literally ⅔ of a bucket of balls wasted on shanks! What am I doing, what’s going on?!?! Felt like all this drill did for me was to ingrain How to Shank the ball 🤦. 🙏

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  Před 2 lety

      If you’re forcing the hands forward you will most likely shank the ball. Find out the root cause for your personal golf swing for why you cast the ball, as doing the process in the video won’t cause you to shank the ball. Send me some videos on my Skillest profile and we’ll get the problem sorted easily
