Testing New Surfing Wave Technology in Italy

- Never thought that I would be surfing a lake in Italy. Thank to a new-ish rapid wave technology called Unit Surf, there is now a wave in a lake just outside of Milan. Wakeparadise is the name of the surf and cable park located right by the Linate airport. What is pretty awesome about this technology is that it can be placed in any body of freshwater that is large enough. It also aerates the water in the lake and helps with water quality even though this lakes water is already really clean to begin with.
Below is a link to their website if you would like to check out their set up next time you are traveling to Milan.

good pond aerator.. reminds me of a surf zone that was in Palm Beach Florida in the '80's that had pilings (50' apart) that you had to know about and it was only 150' wide anyway.. I was riding a boogie board..
Sounds like Clark Ave.
What was it called?
im very happy you came to italy, and even happier that this thing was created here
Made in China
@@ChadMann12 what does that have to do with it? 😂
We Need This Everywhere Too..💯😂😂🏄🏽
What? This is just an inconvenience, expensive skate park.
Good show!
hiiiii brooo, and thank you a lot for content that you make, great
That thing is cool. They should make it double wide!
and double deep
Double it and give it to the next guy. ✌🏼
Some of those air-outs had me thinking about boardslides on the coping. Rails and boxes
I am digging the Grape board where can I get one.
Turn-key Aliso Creek with clean water... cool concept! 😎 🏄♂️ 🌊
Huh?😂❤😊🎉
Yo love your content bro❤
Wave looks sweet, yewwwwwww 🤙🏼🌊
Great pacing on the video :) !!! #stoked
This is sic. Someone try a backside air to rail slide on that white ledge. Stoked for ya. Uncle Bobby
I think you could implement that in a flowing river and use the natural river flow so you wouldn't need any energy..
They already do that, look up the wave in Bend Oregon. There’s others too
Munich Eisbachwelle ✌️
There's a nice surf wave on the Zambezi also. In the class 5 run just below Victoria Falls.
Hannover has got one too - Germany!
Hi Blair, I love your videos and I was just wondering what board you have (the one you first rode finless in this video). Thank you!❤
Catch Surf 54" Special (fins removed)
Came to Sardinia blair!! Swell is caming!!
Welcome ti Italy
Aerates the water too
Yeah, Blair, that is a nice wave.
The wave dynamics are better than the river standing waves, the useable face is wider .
Your surfing looks like you are on an ocean wave.
''i was gonna do a three shove into boog!" Kind of a new move!! (LEGEND)
That wave needs to be about 10 times longer.
Looks interesting 😎
killing it epic ❤❤❤Skid ❤❤❤
Its SO sick how he flips that lush hair back after each trick!
I know right. I'm glad he's grown a sick beard because I'd be really confused otherwise
He doesn’t consider himself cool if he doesn’t so
looks kinda like what they built into the Arkansas River in Salida CO
The only trouble is the wave has no forward velocity. That's critical for the really fun manoevres.
It's kinda like a flowrider?
WOOHOO
Ripper!!!
As someone that's never touched a board...I WANT TO TRY THAT!
can we get one in every state????:??
Andiamo ragazzo! Yew! 🎉🎉🎉
Location in Italy??
Cool 😎
when the F did this channel get 3 million subs? I remember when it had 20 thousand lol... competing with red bull surf for views ahaha love it
CLEAN WATEr! big fish?
OMG BLAIR YOU ARE HERE IN ITALY? I live in Ravenna
❤cool!
JOB is like dang!!!!!
I surfed this „new technology“ the first time in 2018
Can you do wooden skim board vid please
Most Excellent ¿
Hi I heard that you were in Bethany and stoped by there surf shop I was there yesterday buying a skimboard❤
It was an exile exo my first good skimboard😂❤🎉😊
Pensa i ragazzi che erano lì a surfare quel giorno e che si sono trovati davanti un campione mondiale di skimboard.. Beati loro!!
More clips with Blair and Skylar on video together please 😉🤙🏽❤
Omg(oh my Gary)😂
Come to Langenfeld
Imagine they make a wave machine 10 times bigger
What powers this?
Remember when yall connected a river to the ocean like 4 years ago?
How is it powered?
By the flow of the river it seems... their might be a system to change the angle of the plateform in the river, modulating the présence of the wave.
Very efficient system and extremly energy efficient. Might need very few energy.
@@philemon337 Except it's not on a river it's on a lake
@@d.Cog420 ok thanks for this information. so there might be some machinery inside the system... A turbine?
@@philemon337 Could be. The operators would know and are probably reading this thread. Something is sucking the water up to make the wave and at the start you can see large circles on the grill which would suggest fans/turbines.
Anyone have 5mil I can borrow? I want one of these units.
If Blair doesn’t ride your artificial wave, do you really have an artificial wave
bruh you should have planed from the water coming in, onto the ramp
Makes sense!
i am sure people would invest and place accordingly around.
Public civil levels first!
Not that new technology. They've had one at EXO38 in Tencin France near where we live for about 5 years. But this one in Italy seems to produce more of a lip, which I like. Interesting they let everybody do it without helmet and vest in Italy - required here in France. The helmet has saved me a couple of times already. Wish I had Blair's coordination!
If this becomes a big enough sport, someday the rest of us poor folks can try it!
Shacked!
Blair always n1 in the water
Someone give this man a 300k boat for free he’s already a pro wake surfer and doesn’t know it
Do the goats reply??
new ???
He makes it look so easy, and I know it is not!!
Wow !!!!! I bet they relly distroyed the local wildlife. Nice big spin
So its a flowrider but just in a pond 😂
✌🏾🙏🏾🐜
Now let mason Ho test it with a skateboard
Noway a cord around my neck brave
Its be no more effective than Italian WW2 tanks, with 1 forward and 5 reverse gears.
The thing that made surfing cool was being one with nature, trying to catch the swell at the right time and spot. Now we have jet skis towing people into waves taking away the take off and need for judging where tge wave breaks, and now artificial waves which, let's be real; how many can enjoy this per day?
It is cool I sure wish I had this in my yard but I remain an old fart who just sees that the essence of what made surfing such a great sport are gone. Never mind the arguments in the crowded line ups with folks dropping in every wave.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🤙🏼🤟🏼🖖🏼🇳🇿
Yeah - not wide enough... Make it wider, double the width, double the fun...
I hope there is a nuclear reactor powering those pumps and not some coal fired power plant. That would be polluting.
Don’t like the concrete sides. Could hit your head
So its it powered by big turbines/fans under the grill and are those sucking up the entire ecology of the lake so blondini can go for a tiny surf? Guuuummm onnn!
Ever wondered how much infrastructure it takes just for you to be able to make a comment?
yes. And drive around, heat the house, get water by just turning a tap, same with electricity, roading, sewers (they are mind-boggling), what food to buy at the local market, what clothes to buy, who to support and what they stand for, our evolutionary trajectory and possible future, when to point out someone is destroying ecology for a fun time. Also why people put divergent comments up when faced with what appears to be something destructive. I have lots of surfy friends that are totally down with the environment so I find this video weird. What do you think?
I can’t trust anyone who doesn’t know what the suffix logy means😂
@@Jeeves69. Good point and appreciate the tutorship, genuinely. So what do you think of machines sucking the local ecosystem through turbines for surf fun? And this isn't a major, the little wave machine won't cause global environmental destruction, but the thought we can keep doing this to it might? Would genuinely appreciate your educated opinion. Everyone else in the comments is Yo dude, you raked it.
@Jeeves69. He's writing "the ecology" not just "ecology." "The ecology" is surely a coloquialism you have heard! 🤡
🌊🛸🏂
Keep trying.

This seems like a tremendous waste of energy.
Beat me to it. I wonder how much juice it uses
I would like to lower a non-motorized version of this structure into a swiftly moving River. Or power it with a turbine.
If you parked it next to enough solar panels you can run it on sunlight. No night surfing -- too loud, the neighbors complained
SpongeBob
Nope.
Generations of ecological degeneration is certainly worth a few moments of a mediocre good time
This should be illegal
terrible video footage
awful angles
Boring 😞
why? WHY?? keep natural bro
Of all of the adrenaline sports available, that honestly looks pretty boring. I’m sure it takes forever to master it…. But I would much rather ride a 30 mile hard core enduro loop.
Undecided. What's it donto the ecosystem of the lake? Constant noise. Compared to real surf, it's pretty boring and underwhelming. 1 ft crumble wave 20 ft wide.
Imagine the waste of energy
