  • Are you ready to be part of something bigger?
Imagine a floating hospital with one mission - to bring hope and healing through free surgery and medical training. A ship where hundreds of thousands of lives will be changed forever. On board, the blind will see. Children will walk on straight legs for the very first time. Patients will have life-threatening tumors removed. Volunteers will serve on board and bring this mission to life, from medical volunteers to maritime crew and so much more.
It’s a one-of-a-kind operation. And you’re invited to come on board and discover it for yourself.

Mercy Ships uses hospital ships to deliver free, world-class healthcare services, capacity building, and sustainable development to those with little access in sub-Saharan Africa. Founded in 1978 by Don and Deyon Stephens, Mercy Ships has worked in more than 55 developing countries, providing services valued at more than $1.74 billion and treating more than 2.84 million direct beneficiaries. Our ships are crewed by volunteers from over 60 nations, with an average of over 1,200 volunteers each year. Professionals including surgeons, dentists, nurses, healthcare trainers, teachers, cooks, seamen, engineers, and agriculturalists donate their time and skills. With 16 national offices and our Africa Bureau, Mercy Ships seeks to transform individuals and serve nations.

One of my neighbor’s who is also worked with as nurses in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, decided to volunteer on a Mercy Ship sometime in the early ‘90’s. She said it was an experience like no other and she was someone who volunteered locally at various clinics for immigrants and underserved communities. One of her favorite modern day Saints, was St.Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who served, “the poorest of the poor”. Upon her return from serving on the Mercy Ship, Renee went even farther in her education and became a Nurse Practitioner so she could offer even more care to people in underserved communities. I know today, she’s looking after me in the arms of Our Lord, as she was tragically murdered by a man she had filed to divorce as he was abusive and controlling. As her friends and family are relieved after 13 years of her murder being a cold case was finally resolved and the perpetrator brought to justice. Praise the Lord for all those whose lives are touched by The Mercy Ships. 😇😇🙏🙏❤️❤️😊😊🕊️🕊️

Fantastic I was Blessed to be one of the last people to serve on the Anastasis in the Kitchen right before it was replaced by the Africa Mercy.

My husband Kendall served on this Mercy Ship as a deck hand. He talks about it fondly. You are all so inspirational ❤️

I can admit it, I fully take my Western quality of healthcare for granted. Its nice to be humbled, God bless all these individuals.

actually, many of these ships are giving healthcare to areas, we as Westerners no longer receive without big money. So to have 4 doctors doing this for free in America would be amazing. I found this ship on an ad for a guy promoting his quest for bringing drinking water to people. I think water is what I mostly take for granted. Healthcare here, seems available, but widely they turn people away. Canada as well. Cambodia, China, like unless you are covered they will let you die. I'm covered, they almost let me die... right here in Las Vegas.
I wish there was more I could do.

A fantastic platform for a good (and thus Christian) cause.
    But:
The onboard school is accredited by ACSI, which is an organisation that peddles "creationism" and "intelligent design" instead of real science.
And mother Theresa is not a figure to praise. Especially not if you are interested in minimising human suffering.
