This was actually my car. Bought when I was in my 20’s……started modding it and then it sat as I was distracted by other cars and motorcycles.
I just recently sold it to this other guy.
It was in a 3 car garage. 😆
I bought it in Michigan but it had just come from Georgia and then I moved it to Texas and it was my daily driver when I first moved to Houston 20+ years ago.
It’s a series 5 engine and transmission. Had a chrome moly flywheel with a 6 puck clutch when I sold it.
Same plate same mod still there?
Must be pretty cool to see your 20 year old project fall into the hands of Rob Dahm
Nice. Hopefully it will be cool for you to watch it live on.
Were you selling it for 5 grand on facebook withthin the last few months? I remember seeing a post for a 10nth anniversary around the Houston area that sold really fast, thinking this is the same one.
@@Kingverde69 yup.
To really prove rotary superiority, this has to be Rob's new daily
I mean, I daily a 1990 RX-7 GTU, so they're definitely dependable, no issues so far and it was only $8,350!
And 6 rotor swapped
+1
Put it this way its parked where he sleeps
if i wasnt in maine heading into winter, i would daily my 89 vert. its been a rock solid car
This is my husband’s car. He’s the one that loved it! We had it for 25 years. And yes it is originally from Michigan but spent the last 22 in Texas. He keeps his cars clean. This was his baby so I hope you love it like he did.
is your husbands youtube name "Bronco Bill" ? Because he's made a post saying this was his car. His post reads as follows - This was actually my car. Bought when I was in my 20’s……started modding it and then it sat as I was distracted by other cars and motorcycles.

Why did he sell it?
@@SuperScottCrawford cuz its rob dahm.... if rob wanted a rotary that u had wouldnt u sell it to him?
Thank God it got out of MI
Agree with all the other comments, this should be made into a dedicated ROAD car for GT driving. All your other 7’s are set up for track work. Let see how good of a road car you can make this one!
I'd also leave it as stock or "OEM+" as possible. Old cars don't need 600hp to be fun.
Facts. At 600, its probably going to break stuff in the drive train that wasn't designed for that much hp too, and parts for cars this old aren't getting any cheaper it feels like.
Rob is the cat lady we didn't know we wanted.
Under-rated comment!!🤣

@@socks2441 this channel is not a normal car channel tho.
9:25 hell yeah Cosmo engine and nothing would be badass, good idea Isaiah . You should listen to that guy you should give him a raise.
Yes!
Is that your second account Isiah?
It would be really cool to put a 600hp cosmo engine in it, but make it look stock in every way and reversible. The 20b is one of the best sounding engines, and it would be glorious coming from that car.
I'd imagine it's probably cheaper to buy the billet 20B fat plate and whatever else then a cosmo engine, they're expensive and rare
@@mitchhifi9192 he had a 2nd cosmo engine just sitting right now
Why a Cosmo engine? Rob already knows how to dowel an engine now. We have made north of 1400whp with FC motors.
@@lb8130 Yeah, exactly and he has a plate already, I wonder if he could take the billet plate measurements and replicate it 😂
It's a one of 1500 made I would leave it as stock as possible except for the ugly stock rims it came with
Bring this dude to 1MILLION SUBSCRIBERS HE DESERVES IT
Haha I have one hell of a surprise to announce for 1 million subs. This is a baby hint to it haha
@@RobDahm i thought you hit a mil already bro

@@RobDahm cat sanctuary? 😂
dont cosmo swap this.. keep it 100% stock. im on point with removing the aftermarket wheels.
i think you should use the 10AE rims but have 3 piece USA do some magic to them.
leave the stock 2 rotor, maybe pep it up a bit but this one deserves to stay stock. its a GEM.
That would be sick to make a 3 piece modified stock wheel
@@RobDahm Speak to Barrel Bros. Absolute kings of old modified JDM/OEM wheels. 👍
This man is 100% right. Other than doing your bulletproofing, leave it alone
Agreed. Keep this thing as stock as possible
3 piece wheels are so played out and boring man
My wife and I took this exact route on our way to our honeymoon and we stopped at this Chevron station! Hanging out with the cats was a great refresher after driving late into the night.
The FC rx7 is just a slightly better looking porche, and I love it!
Porsche.
one is an '80s fastback coupe with a new, weird engine that's notorious for reliability problems and the difficulty of finding parts/doing your own repairs, which is only ever found as either a completely rusted out, falling apart shitbox or a rolling shell, and is always overpriced for what it is regardless, but hey, at least it has pop up headlights.
the other is the FC RX7.
“The ones that I’m inside of right now” and “More meat in the rear,” both made me chuckle. My mind is deep in the gutter.
Robs love for cats is just as great as his love for rotaries
I'm guessing you've had that car for awhile, because I remember seeing it sitting in the shop before your SEMA trip.
When I worked at quality auto sound in Colorado... in 2001 somebody had one of those 10th anniversary edition cars with under 10,000 miles on it in 100% stock form. Absolute beautiful car. I didn't drive it, but I got to sit in it and damn what a beautiful car all around.

*Danger Dan flies by in his Miata*
Yes! Finally Daddy Dahm got another FC! Now he needs the 1st gen FB RX7 to complete the collection! 😂
and a REPU
Is that the one mighty cars bought?
Actually it would be an FA technically.. 🤓
Cosmo?

Please do a in-depth Build Out series for the FC as OEM++ because...
I've recently picked up a very clean and stock 1987 Turbo II.
I want to build my T2 towards OEM++ with the ability to go on to track for drifting.
I'm struggling with picking parts and understanding the pros and cons of my choices.
Also I'm very apprehensive doing anything with a video source as a referrence such as
OMP Deletes because there no video source on it.
Where did you buy this TII? I used to own one for 10 + years
This is actually my dream car, i’m glad you could find one in such good condition and it’s in your hands. Will love to see what you do with it.
I had a friend who had one of these a long time ago. He bought it from a friend of his in mint condition with around 15k miles. First thing he did was throw a boost controller on it with zero mechanical knowledge. I told him to wait till the weekend as I was currently going to a tech institute for automotive but he figured he knew better. Well long story short he didn't secure the vacuum lines and one blew off and the boost shot up on it on his very first pull and he blew the motor. He ended up selling it dirt cheap, no idea where the car is now. Seeing this one in such good condition this many years later reminds me of all kinds of cool cars back from the 90's and 80's. They definitely have a special allure to them.
The FC is for sure on my list of dream cars 🤤
Theyre cheap as shit buy one no balls.
@@codename1233 Currently dumping money into a project truck 💁
Same, but rx7s are little bit expensive in my country, but if i could i would buy one
I dig the OEM wheels too. Should get some custom one made like 17's, wider and maybe a little more offset to make it hella flush with class!
I have a 10th anniversary myself!Cant wait to see this build 🙌
My fathers father owned one of these while my dad was in grade school. I had to send him this video to throw him back. Awesome!
Congrats duder you finally found one, that’s awesome, guess I know longer need to will you mine 🤣🤣🤣
I might still steal yours for parts 😂
Get a GTUs. It's rare. The 10ae is literally just any white 1988 turbo car.
Swap the FC rotary into the 944
As a 944 Enthusiast. I want to see this happen. I mean it has a rear transaxle like the corvette and he did a corvette rotary swap. It can happen!
@@pixel_overkill as a guy with a 944 that makes the porsche purists have a heart attack, i support this idea.
I love Robs channel because it’s not all about super cars like everyone else’s channel. It’s all about seeing the potential in the cars that got us to where we are today
4 rotor content, 3 rotor content, fc content, Indy car content. This channel is the absolute best.
I want a 3rd Gen-a stock one!
Everyone does
You should put the cosmo engine in a canam that would be a rocket! (It already has a roll cage, too!)
I’ve been subbed to Rob for 9 years now watching every video. Time flies by
My first car ever was an 88 GTu. Not quite the 10th anniversary edition, but it was a special build to commemorate Mazdas 100+ wins in the IMSA GT(u)nder 2 liters series. Drove that car for 10 years and had literally zero issues with it.
My barn find was a saturn ion 😒😒
Hell yes.
I had an '88 GXL model, and I absolutely loved it. Always wanted the turbo, but I still had loads of fun with the one I had.
I had one of these when I was in high school. I bought it for $2000 and it was all stock and in just alright condition. Early 2000's FCs were dirt cheap. I ended up selling it to help pay for college. After college I found myself a nice 1987 TII and it's absolutely mint with only 70k miles completely stock. I'm doing the same stock plus journey, to be tasteful restraint. That's the hardest thing, is to show restraint and keep it nice and stock and enjoyable on the street.
We're all happy for your success. Nice partnership with Kumho.
So happy to hear that you are going to build a car that handles on a road course. I love the fact that you are pushing things with the power. But besides RX-7s having great engines, they have been renowned for having wonderful handling. What a lot of these guys who LS swap or even K-swap RX-7s , and RX-8s, fail to understand is that a lot of what makes an RX-7 or RX-8 handle so well is that a rotary is not only small and lightweight, it also sits very low in the chassis and behind the front axle, making it a lightweight, mid-engined car with a low center of gravity. That is what makes them so great on track. That and the fact that a race prepped rotary is the perhaps one of the most reliable engines ever!!!
Knowing what you can do, I only expect a 3 or 4 rotor turbocharged "street" engine in it. Nothing else should be changed.
Gotta love achievable dream cars, as a kid was a big Diamond Star Motors fan never had the $ to get one at the time, would absolutely love to find a 2n gen Eclipse GSX/Talon TSI or 3000GT VR4/Dodge Stealth that hasn't been too abused.
I have a soft spot for DSM’s. I owned a 91 Plymouth Laser, 95 Talon TSI, and a 97 GST.
the same day i got my signed Anita T-shirt, i also went and got a diecast 10th anniversary FC. Little did i know it would all come full circle, congrats rob. You deserve it.
Man, I had an '88 RX-7 with over 180,000 miles on it and loved every minute. Such a great platform, even when stock.
Happy for u bro!
@Caro Lin PFFF HAHAHJAHHAJAHAHHANA FK BOT
Cats be like no petting, no petting thank you, no petty no petty 😆😆😆
This makes me miss my FC vert I had a few years back. I was unfortunately part of the LS swap the world club at the time (low compression, studded built for boost but never got to it). Watching all the content on the vette build and some of the wiring videos as finally given me the kickstart i needed to get back and finish wiring the current project, a 1970 Datsun 240z. It is being built in an OEM plus sort of way, numbers matching block, slightly bigger cam, triple weber carbs.
I love the small detail on the fender badge where the "10th anniversary" is inside a rotor. I love it
FC's are the best looking
Also LMAO at the 944 joke :D
Michelin has "Michelin Man" and Kumho has "The Dahm Tire Man."
I had two FC's in the early 90's. Now they are a barn find? Thanks for making me feel old.
I had a 2nd gen RX-7, in red, (1991 Turbo II) and it was the most fun car I've ever owned. It was starting to rust underneath but had 276k miles on the original engine, and clutch, and still ran great.
I put a turboback exhaust, short ram air intake, better radiator, front mount intercooler setup and short throw shift kit on it. (Flushed and replaced all fluids and replaced the belts, too.) Also took off that heavy manual cooling fan (the one that's bolted directly to the engine) and replaced it with an electric one which worked perfectly. Besides those mods I just did some weight loss stuff. Swapped the extremely heavy hood (if you've ever owned a 2nd gen RX-7 you know how insainly heavy those hoods are) with a carbon fiber one and took out the useless rear seats. Those two things together saved me a lot of weight. Probably a couple hundred pounds which made it so much quicker and more responsive.
It was still shy of 300hp but for a car that small and light it was actually pretty damn fast for a daily driver and surprised a lot of people. I ran all seasons so it had no problem breaking the rear end free around turns on dry pavement in 2nd gear. If it was raining out it was extremely easy and very controllable. The lack of power steering let you feel everything the car was doing and the near perfect weight distribution made it easy to perfect your technique.
*Quick nostalgia car story:* I actually made some decent money racing a guy I worked with at the time. I was just out of high school and working in a factory and this guy kept talking shit about my car because it was foreign. He had a brand new Pontiac Grand Pre GTP and was always talking about how his car would destroy mine in an 1/8 mile drag. The place I worked at was full of guys like him who hated foreign cars. Lots of pickup trucks and stuff like that. So at lunch we arranged a race, for later in the week, on the road we worked on. It was straight back road with no houses where there was never any traffic. Before I came to work that day I took my spare tire and all tools out of the back of my car and added some octane booster for good measure. We ended up racing after our shift with a bunch of guys from the plant watching. We each bet $250 and let a third party hold the money. When we raced I pulled away from him the entire time and was a full 3 car lengths ahead by the time we passed the guy waiting at the eighth mile mark.
I really miss that car. I had it for 3 years but had to sell it because it was starting to seriously rot out and fall to pieces. I live in Buffalo, NY so it had seen many winters and salty roads. I drive a newer WRX now and it's not nearly as fun. It's quicker, better in the corners, more reliable, modern and comfortable, but just not nearly as much fun to drive.
I know of a white 10th anniversary that has sat outside of a mechanics shop near my home for 5+ years. The owner of the shop refuses to sell it. Won’t cover it. People have attempted to steal it several times. Continues to sit outside barricaded by broken fords that will never run again.
Tbh, I'd prefer to see an OEM++ style build. Nothing extreme, just mods, some power and a clean car
My dream car right now is a white turbo 2 fc from 89-92 and seeing this video made me sooooo happy! It's such a beauty and noone deserves it more than you.
Its great to see the excitement from somebody that is passionate about what they are doing. What an awesome Christmas present!
finally, a real RX7 in the paddock, in the right colour too.
Rob really needs to chill on this, keep it classic and drop a 6 rotor in it 😂
Very happy for you, Rob! I am also a proud owner of a 1 of 1,500 10th Anniversary RX-7, but sadly mine isn't as clean as yours. I am from Indiana and the previous owner didn't treat the FC very well. Rust on parts of the body, plasti dip trying to be used as paint, pieces of the engine beat up, carpet wasn't the best, the wiring harness OH GOD THE WIRING HARNESS! Needless to say me and my friends were lucky that the car didn't blow up at all while getting back to where we live. I'm glad you are gonna keep it clean and not do anything too crazy, I for one am going crazy with mine and turning it into a drift car because how beat up it is already. I wish you the best of luck and can't wait to see this thing in action!
I cannot wait to see the way you go about handling. The way you have gone into going in a straight line is amazing.
Born and raised in San Antonio. Made the Houston to Calii trip on 10, both ways, many many times. Very Happy for you. Great find. Houston area has a huge car base. Had a maroon colored fc with the same sun roof. Mine was an 89 turbo2
Had a good friend in the mid 90' in fla have one and was blessed to ride in it. It was one of the best memories I have about cars - turbo cars . And spun my love of cars. I'm so glad you finally got it. Touched my great memories. Thank you ❤️
I still love how genuine he is - hundreds of thousands of dollars of tools, one of the most insane rx7s ever built, a diablo, ect. And he still has a trailer from uhaul. I feel like he's doing it for the meme at this point
Hell yeah Dahm! I'm excited to see what fun adventures you will have with your 10AE!
My son just found an all white 1989 t2. That was a sitting on the side of a house as an unfinished project. Has all new Atkins rotors and parts but shabby install. Finally got it tidied up and started and running strong. Came with new N1 exhaust as well. Looking forward to seeing this project progress as we work on a sister car.
The banter at the end was what I watch for 😆😆 I have an RX8 so looking forward to the laughs and occasional shit throwing lol we all Rotary lovers here!
I started with an 87 Turbo 2 and loved it and then bought an FD a few years later, such a fun car. This is going to be awesome to see what is done to it!Hopefully keep it as close to stock as possible, please!
I love the FD (like everyone else), but I fell in love with the FC. I am glad that this FC is going to a good home, and am looking forward to seeing you work on it. I am especially glad that you are not going to make it another straight line monster, because I have always felt that the most fun you can have in a car is pushing it to the limit around a track.
Wow, what a beautiful car Rob!! Veery jealous! Especially an anniversary edition. Cant wait to see it back on the road.
Almost bought this same spec 10th back in the day. So clean just finish up the motor and ECU setup and leave as is.
I've ALWAYS wanted you to do something with an FC, especially as an FC Turbo II owner
Hey Rob, I currently have the same exact car in white 1988 Turbo II 10th Anniversary sitting on a garage for 12 years or more.
It came with an extra but more stylish rear spoiler in case some decided to steal the factory one.
I traded this car for my old 1978 RX-3 "SP", but it also came with a worn out clutch. So I ordered a new bronce unit from Racing Beat but I never installed it and left it in the trunk. I only drove it once but since the clutch was so weak, I parked it in the garage, closed the doors and never did anything with it.
It does have 100k plus miles and I am ready to let it go or negotiate.
I parked in my garage and never had time to even started it again. So even though the engine was running good, I think after so many years it may have to be looked in before driving it far because it has been sitting for so long.
The only thing I don't have is the factory white wheels, which I never cared for the style and told the previous owner that I did not want them. (Who knows where those wheels went after so many years)
Any interest on this car? It has all factory engine, turbo, intercooler etc under the hood and all engine compartment components are still there.
What do you think???
Tony M. 👍
That's one clean car. Exited for Rob to show more detail about it.
This is so cool. I got an '88 Turbo II in early summer this year. It is my first rotary car as I've had mostly Nissan S13, S14s since the mid 1990's and currently have an R32 GT-R. An FC T2 was always on my bucket list since 1998. Watching all your vids about rotaries over the last couple years has taught me a lot and was the tipping point to securing my T2. I just finished rebuilding the motor myself and I couldn't be more excited. Super stoked to see more of your awesome 10AE FC!
Dream project considering where you start, that's a fantastic example of a 80's car well conserved, please keep it as original as possible and even more important, drive it frequently!
Beautiful barn find. 😍
Junkyard Dave on CZcams has a FC and FD rx7 and uses solid works for custom parts you two should get together. Maybe he can help you build custom parts that are 3d printed in metal. Much much easier then trying to CNC machine intakes and valve covers ect. Metal 3d printing is making huge changes in custom parts. His red FC is also a turbo 2 car.
I love to see the 10th ae get love. I sold my jeep wrangler and was able to get one right after graduation about a year ago. Such a unique looking car i don’t think i’ll ever be able to sell it.
Found Rob through Hoonigan... He could easily be the Chip Foose we we needed in 2021, Love the humble and awesome content. 😸 We also have In n out and Whataburger in Texas, Whataburger is hit or miss sometimes, but In n out is the shit every time. 😸
Congrads on the find !!!! Cosmo motor for sure do it Rob and make it the sickest ride ever.....
Happy for you Rob! Enjoy, In-joy!
This video hits home because it reminds me of myself. When I found my dream car. Or even when you find that one car that just brings you back to what got you going in the first place.
Congratulations I know how it feels bought mines 1 yr ago rebuilding engine and turbos done
Anyone else think that when Rob was in the tires Isaiah should have put the cat on him and then started to relentlessly tickle?
Seriously nice RX7! Can’t wait to see it sorted, cheers!
Many many years ago I had an 88 . did a motor swap with a turbo motor out of a 94 . loved that car , so much fun

I have my 1987 FC RX-7 Turbo II. I bought it in 2000. Turbo, non-aero, non-ABS, manual steering. My shoulders were sore for a week after I bought it.
Its nice to be reminded the year RX-7 came out, I was born 👍👍

That FC is absolutely gorgeous and there is no one better than you to drive it. I'm so jealous.
Been watching this channel from the start and one thing that always gets me is Rob is still renting u haul trailers 🤘👌
Awesome time capsule. Time for a tyre machine and balancer in the shop now
I'm so excited to see more of this FC!!
This is what I've been waiting for! The FD is fun, but the FC is iconic and classic. I can't wait to see the build videos on this!

Okay, this explains all my previous confusion between S5/S4/10th AE. Very cool that it's an actual 10th anni, can't wait to see you do it justice!
I owned one of these in the late 90's, and I still regret selling it to this day. It was my favorite car and I had no idea how rare it really was until years later.
