Luke wasn't bleeding because lightsabers are so hot that they cauterize the wounds they make. You may remember that Anakin didn't bleed either when Dooku cut his arm off.

Glad you are loving the original trilogy! Great reaction! A couple things about Yoda:
    • Dagobah is a secluded swamp planet that has a cave that is strong with the dark side. We don’t know why (rumor is a Sith died in the cave). Yoda chose to hide there because of the dark side aura, as it would mask his presence from the Empire.
    • Yoda was testing Luke when they first met. He was acting crazy to see how patient/accepting Luke would be. In other words, Yoda wanted to see if Luke was like Anakin. THEN Yoda revealed himself to Luke as Yoda. Then we see him act serious.

The temps did drop rapidly that is for sure. In the scenes where Luke escapes the Wampa's lair and where Obi-Wan first appears as a force ghost and tells Luke to find Yoda were both shot 15 feet from the entrance of the hotel the cast and crew were using during production. During the month of May this year members of the 501st legion were once again on location to make sure the rebels did not return. They took pics on site where the Hoth base was filmed, where the AT-AT's appeared and the hill Mark Hamill rolled down after Luke left the lair.

The reason behind going for limbs is the Jedi try to end a threat as quickly as possible while still protecting even an enemy life. Taking off a hand or arm does that while going for the head would not just end the treat presented but also the enemy permanently.

It's not that Yoda is telling Luke not to ask ANY questions, it's more that Luke was asking the wrong question. Zen masters are like that. They'll never tell you anything until you ask the right questions. And they never teach something unless they are asked to, when the pupil is ready to be taught.
But he's also saying there is a time for questions and a time to clear your mind of questions and other concerns. This is essential to meditation and other spiritual pursuits, the idea of seeing your mind as a busy chalkboard that needs to be wiped clean. At that moment, Yoda knew that Luke needed to get out of his own head for his spiritual test in the cave. The Force isn't just a physical endeavor but a spiritual/philosophical one too.

@@TiiaraTelevised Keep in mind that the Force is actually based on Zen Buddhism and Taoism. Both stress the importance of non-attachment and balance, which are indeed difficult to master, at least to most Western minds. These are disciplines and a lot of people in the modern world have problems being disciplined. People think the Force is just a magic power that makes you practically omnipotent. The prequels and The Clone Wars and especially video games portray the Jedi and Sith as gods able to fling ships around with The Force with barely any effort. People forget that the Force is difficult to learn and control. It’s a challenge and a discipline. But it’s not impossible. Real life Buddhists and Taoists practice similar disciplines every day.
I think one of the most telling things Yoda says here is “You must unlearn what you have learned”. It’s a mental challenge to leave behind old ways of thinking and learn new ways of seeing the world around you that may even seem antithetical to everything you know. That advice seemed difficult to Luke, maybe more difficult than it needed to be, so he failed to raise the ship.
I notice that people also confuse not having attachments with not having emotions. But the Jedi, like Buddhists, teach that attachment brings suffering. You can feel love or what we normally think of as attachment in the emotional sense, but nothing is permanent and we have to be able and ready to let go of the things and people we love when the time inevitably comes. To try to cling to them just causes anxiety and imbalance.

the planet that yoda lives on is a Darkside Nexus....it has so much dark force energy that it helped yoda hide from the Emperor ....Tatooine is also a Darkside Nexus that is why Obi Wan was able to hide from the Emperor and still watch over Luke throughout his childhood....those places would be the last place Vader or the Emperor would look for them...great reaction by the way...your observation about Jedi keeping secrets is spot on ....it is one of the reasons some people turn to the Darkside

No bleeding from lightsaber-inflicted wounds because sabers are white-hot, so they cauterize wounds on contact. Same is true for blaster fire; the lasers are incredibly hot. If you recall the Cantina scene in _A New Hope_ where Greedo confronts Han, after Han blasts him, he's seen face-down on the table smoking, burnt to a crisp by close-range laser fire.

into the story of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Yoda is guided to Dagobah by the spirit of Qui-Gon Jinn. What he finds is a planet with the purest connection to the Force of anywhere he's ever been. This is the main reason why Yoda chooses this as his hiding place, but since he’s lived alone for so long he’s become slightly eccentric

One of the main reasons for Needa's downfall was due to his friendship with Admiral Ozzel. It was that friendship that led to him being the CO of the Avenger. Fun fact not mentioned in the movie but Needa was also in command of the republic ship that sent Grevious's planetward in episode 3 though at that point he held the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Vader did not only execute Capt. Needa but also destroyed his entire family line though this fact is only mentioned in the EU.

3 different actors from ESB also appear in another famous movie Indiana Jones and the last crusade. They also were cast again as both a hero and villain just as they play in ESB. Julian Glover General Veers) plays Walter Donavan, Kenneth Colley (Admiral Ozzel) plays the role of Hitler and of course Harrison Ford played Indiana Jones.

Lightsabers cauterize as they cut. There would be minimal loss of blood. There are a number of places in the galaxy that are stronger with the Living Force. Degobah is one of them and tends to lean on the dark side. This makes Yoda harder to detect.

Great reaction ❤30:19. If you believe, Billy Dee Williams, he said he asked for a cape to be added to the Lando Calrissian costume, because he felt it made him look heroic. Also, capes were a part of black high fashion in the late 60s and 70s. This film had to be made in the 70s in order to come out in 1980. If you look at 1970s album covers or CZcams performance videos for Isley Brothers or The Delfonics, you will see them wearing capes. Also the star of the 1973 Movie "The Mack" wears a famous brown cape that the comedian Martin Lawrence spoofed for his 1990s TV Show "Martin" Also 37:54 I saw that someone in the comments said, Luke wasn't bleeding because "lightsabers cauterize the wounds"? I am pretty sure I remember hearing that there was no blood to keep the PG rating.

With the Sith there was the rule of two mentioned briefly in episode 1. One master to hold the power and an apprentice to crave it. In every other Master/Apprentice relationship since the rule of two came into effect eventually the apprentice would grow strong enough to kill their master taking their place and training an apprentice of their own. Both Vader and Sidious knew if Luke turned it would have been the end of Sidious as the master.

There were certain planets that were strong in the force themselves Dagobah was one such planet but it drew its power in darkness. That was actually one of the reasons Yoda went there as the strong dark side energy coming from the planet masked his own energy in the light.

Vader is a much more dangerous and imposing figure in this film. He doesn’t “shout” as much as he does in Star Wars, which is good. As an actor, if you’re playing the bad guy, you never wanna show your top. Acting crazy etc. unless the character has a distinct mental instability. In this, you never know what he’s going do do in a way. I like that.

  • @CDRhammond

The cave held two things behind it. One was that if he was not careful he would follow in Vader's footsteps and turn to the dark side, the other was that at that point he was no match against Vader and would almost certainly have died had it not been for the connection between the two of them.

The creator of Star Wars George Lucas pointed out that the main fight at the end of this movie is actually between Anakin and Vader and the single person is conflicted and in fact it’s the tiny part of Anakin which still lives that saved Luke from Vader’s wrath at the end!!! … Vader wished to remain in complete control and otherwise sever all ties which are linked to Anakin!! however Anakin can be redeemed and therefore was reaching out to Luke

    1. Han to Chewy, "Laugh it ups fuzzball"🤣
    2. The scene in the cave is Luke seeing into his future if he were to turn to the dark side.
    3. Do them in the original release. They were put that way for a reason. Jumping ahead ruins it for you and us.
    4. IRL Ford and Fisher were having an affair. She was only 19 and he was much older and married. She put it in her biography before she died. She got an ok from him to put it in there.
    5. Hans', "I know" was ad lib and required a new script to be written in the next movie.
    6. You will learn more about the emperor and Darth Vader in episodes I, II and III.
    7. The next one wraps everything up and IMVHO is the best of the original VI Lucas episodes.

The reason you can't ask a million questions with the light side of the force is because Yoda is trying to make the point that belief is where strength and courage sprout from. It's about faith in the force not looking to answer a million why's. Even with meditation, you need to clear your mind of questions and thoughts before you can reach a level of enlightenment or peace or inner strength.
Faith is where the power of the light side resides and Yoda makes that point clear after lifting the x wing from the swamp.

  • @oneironaut420

Luke was not ready to hear the truth yet. He was still too young and reckless to hear "Your dad is space Hitler and he slaughtered a bunch of children." That's not the sort of thing you just spring on a young kid. He failed most of Yoda's tests too. Yoda was putting on act to test his patience, and Luke failed at that. Yoda told Luke that he wouldn't need his weapons in the cave, but Luke didn't listen and took his weapons anyway. If he hadn't, he would've had a totally different vision. Luke couldn't believe that he could raise his ship from the swamp. And Yoda and Ben were right that Luke should have stayed to finish his training; Luke failed miserably, Han was still frozen and Leia managed to escape without any help from Luke at all. If he had finished his training, he would've eventually been ready to hear the truth about his father.
Yoda also said that if Luke honored what Han and Leia fought for, then Luke would have to sacrifice them. Luke was very close to giving in to the dark side, and if he had, he would have become a greater threat to Han, Leia and the rebels than Vader alone was.

One thing you don't do when flying is try to land when equipment inside the aircraft is not working and you don't have a visual indicator of where the ground is you need to have at least one. A lot of your questions at the end have already been answered at this point so I'm a little confused at that. But I will leave that alone.
What I do have to come at you for is your assessment of Lando. That was very shortsighted. Lando was Mayor of a city vicinity and entrusted with the safety of hundreds or even thousands of residents that lived and worked there. It was not a military base. Vader and the Empire got there and threatened to take over or even destroy it if he didn't cooperate to allow them to interrogate Hans about where Luke was. He knows nothing about Luke and Hans is just a dude from his past. They were not current best friends or anything. What was he supposed to say no and fight Vader and the Empire with his city guards risking the lives of all those people and operations?!?!?

The production for this film was actually something of a disaster.
George Lucas handed off the project to his old mentor Irvin Kershner to direct so that he could focus on setting up his company, but had to get involved due to the film going way over budget, the original screenwriter passing away, and several fires burning down the sound stages. All the while, Lucas and Kershner were having to rotate between filming across 3 different countries.
In a sense, it's a miracle this film turned out as good as it did.
