Travelling New Zealand in October? You’ll want to know what the New Zealand weather is like in October so you can plan your activities and pack accordingly! In this quick guide to the weather in October, we’ll go over the typical temperatures in each area of New Zealand, as well as other weather patterns. October is an awesome time to visit New Zealand as it is considered one of the “shoulder seasons” meaning there are fewer people visiting New Zealand during this time. In turn, the country feels less crowded (not that New Zealand ever feels “crowded”) and some activity, transport and accommodation costs may be cheaper than in summer. What’s more, October is mid-spring in New Zealand so you’ll experience mild comfortable weather.

Please tell me what the weather in late September is? I will be on a 2 week trip and explore the North and South Island. I can't decide what clothes to bring as I am from the tropical country. All I have in my closet are clothes for the year-round summer here😅. Thank you in anticipation.

Late September in New Zealand is the start of spring, so the weather can be quite variable. On the North Island, you can expect mild temperatures ranging from 10°C to 18°C (50°F to 64°F), while the South Island will be cooler, with temperatures ranging from 5°C to 15°C (41°F to 59°F). You might encounter some chilly mornings and evenings, especially in the South Island, and there's always a chance of rain, so layers are key!
Since you're coming from a tropical country, you'll want to pack some warmer clothing like a good jacket, sweaters, and long pants. Don’t forget a waterproof jacket, as spring can bring unexpected showers.
