- Some curious Thomas & Friends toy mysteries and strange merchandise. First up I examine an awesome VTech Thomas Activity Table 2007 that has all the bells and whistles to have tons of Sodor Island fun. I pull apart this toy to see what's inside. My Thomas & Friends chocolate collection has a mystery bug so I can't keep everything. Thomas Coffee Mug featuring Thomas James Percy. Thomas Floor Puzzle by Ravensburger. Percy & James classic iron on patches. Thomas & Friends classic poster featuring the model versions of Thomas characters. Various Thomas & Friends art works but I do wonder if these are licensed or knockoffs. Thomas & Friends scooters one used to be my son, the other is a bubble blowing version. Thomas & Friends Steam Team bike that has a steerable control for parents. Classic Thomas The Tank ride-on trains that have seen too much sun and are spider infested. Chuggington Wilson ride-on that is totally Chugger awesome in details. New Thomas The Tank Thomas Tracks ride-on (Moose Mountain Toys) which also has Thomas and Percy toy trains. Journey Beyond Sodor DVD and Sodor Island drift and then I examine how the faces and details on the Thomas toys has changed over the years. Considering the use attention to every detail in the Thomas DVD and character faces slapped onto nearly every moving thing I'm not seeing this applied to the toys. I look over ERTL, TOMY, Hornby, Take N Play, Thomas Wooden Railway, Thomas Minis, Thomas Adventures to show and explain why the character faces are important and so often missing in the latest Thomas toys. I then examine the very strange plastic Thomas & Percy from the Thomas Tracks ride-on and wonder what toy train track system it will work on. I ask many question in this video, I'm sure my loyal audience can fill in the gaps.
I need to connect to someone who can appreciate my Thomas Merchandise. I can't keep all of what the charity shop has collected for me. This is only open to people living in Sydney, it would be very costly to ship these items because there is so much stuff.
These Thomas & Friends merchandise videos will focus on non train toys (not always), this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Thomas The Tank Engine merchandise.

All we Thomas fans are getting older and there are no replacements for us. Electronics have killed any 'play' spirit in most children....sad yet true. I am 75 and still love these toys. They are really more fun than my pre and post war Lionels. Thank you for all the videos and looking for more. captjack
Shame you don't much care for the Owen bell paintings, I really love them. But, like you said, they have been badly sun damaged. All the stuff you get from the charity shop seems to be fairly modern. I hope you find new homes for it all in Sydney :)
I think only one was legit, the earliest one had copyright, the others really felt like knockoffs that used to be seen flooding the dark side markets years ago. Art and Plush toys are the two easiest methods of clone copy items.
I expect you're right, not bad for dark side stuff though! I have seen actual "fan-art" being sold on market stalls and stuff, just copied from the internet.

I completely see your point about the troublesome truck toys , and it's very frustrating. They're spending so much time trying to impress us with all of their adventures jazz like pirate ship sets, but really, what will sell is what we see in the show.
How simple would it be to put a few faces on things and make things look right. Sadly this seems to be almost impossible lately. It's quite alarming to see it changing so much in so few years.
Exactly! Not tk mention that so many characters with starring roles in the recent series such as daisy have gone unmerchandised. Mattel wonders why they're loosing money, but the answer is right in front of their eyes! If you've seen the JBS, you'd be aware of lexi, yes? She was a very popular character they could've made lots of merchandise money out of, but they didn't make any merchandise of her! While i am aware that there is merchandise of her on the way, it wasn't released during the boom of the entire film. A wasted opportunity :(

What are your thoughts on the Inconsistent Bouncing of the Engine's Chassis?
People online have been complaining about how it takes away Realism and How It's Distracting. Although, I'm sure they're all concerned that show is becoming more like Chuggington.
Personally, I don't mind it. It insinuates gestures, and allows the Engine's to express their statements better.
As well as make it seem like The Engine's are dancing during the songs, which most people seem to love.
Anyway, before I drag this on, What is your opinion on the subject?
I would also like to ask, if you don't mind, your opinion on the Cheapening of recent Thomas & Friends Toys? Especially with the upcoming Thomas WOOD.
I have only watched half the film. The bouncing engines to be only distracts from the original feel of the Thomas films. I dare say those who animate the films want more movement to give the trains more life. History rarely ever plays a part in a change I have noticed. The whole series seems quite fluid. My worry is that this movement of the engines will stay because little children will possibly love it. They are not looking at the series with adult eyes that have seen how the series used to stick to strong railway ideals. Anyway children today want that Disney feel to everything. In Cars films that's how they animate. Being static is a tad too boring for little ones today. The only good thing is the bouncing movements were not as savage as Chuggington.
I really don’t mind it that much, as long as it doesn’t get TOO wacky.
Like, the movement sometimes in the move makes sense.
*And sometimes the Troublesome Trucks like to defy all logic and probably wreck their loads within*

I have that same play table, and I really loved it for a long time. Quite amazing how the toys were back in that era.
Those ride on toys kind of remind of the birthday toppers, except more detailed. I wonder why I've never seen that one before.
I think Vtech would have been hit hard by the iPad generation. Lots of free app games emulate what their products do. I have some of the very yarly Vtech games from the now closed charity shop. Maybe one day I will show them..if I'm around.

It's a race to the bottom. Of note TOMY and Hasbro have share prices going through the roof. So what are they doing that Mattel are not.
The other tragic share price is Hornby, wow that's really drifted to dark territories in the last few years. Looks like the iPads have killed off their company.
leokimvideo I believe that everyone that cares about Thomas merchandise should just move to Japan. They get all the good stuff. Including but not limited to: Plarail, Capsule Plarail (they don’t cheat you in Japan) and N-Scale. I highly recommend buying more things from Japan.

Mattel needs to give up the rights Thomas & Friends an let Tomy make Thomas & Friends for the United States again because Mattel is getting cheaper and cheaper every year and Thomas & Friends an it's not getting any better it just keeps getting worse and worse I've heard the saying things change for the better I guess in Mattel's case that says no ply things just keep getting worse and worse!!!!

The ring around those ribbon cables is a ferrite ring, used to decrease high frequency "noise" - random changes in the signal. The plastic bulge on some USB cables contain one as well.

I recognize some of those posters, I have them as puzzles that were licensed, I just pulled one of the boxes out, one was called Thomas, Mavis, and Duck Crossing the River with the company being Golden Puzzles and the year of 1993, the other with Thomas and duck was another puzzle I had, I would think from around the same era, the early to mid 90s when I was just a young boy. Hope that helps figure, it is to bad about those I loved looking at the thomas art from that era and it is to bad that those didn't make it.
Since I didn’t see a motor on the Thomas activity table, I feel like Thomas is not supposed to move by itself.
I actually have that big thomas. It is a thomas that ran on tracks that came with it and children could ride on it. It made whistle sound a talking sound and the thomas theme. And can’t remember it those are the sounds but I think they are. I still have it just it’s deep in my garage.

leo i luv this wish i lived in australia where i had stuff like dat and stuff like charity shops unlike here in usa.. even tho prices r better here, even on ebay, i found a bunch more of tomy oliver *really rare train* on ebay austrailia and uk rather than usa had about 3 for like 100 dollars.

The now closed charity shop was awesome. Rarely was stuff over a few dollars. I have picked up some absolute gems and some certified trash.

That play table is very fascinating especially because the constructions book says that Thomas should move yet when you open it there was no motor in sight... also have you tried ERTL track for the plastic fantastic Thomas and Percy that come with the ride on as I know it's quite wide?
It's an awesome toy, I'm now curious to find one in excellent condition. Sad how the sun wreck toys. The two biggest enemies of toys is batteries, the sun and possibly water to make a third.

The pictures with the Owain signature on it were made by a Thomas and Friends illustrator called Owain Bell. He did illustrations for a lot of Thomas and Friends items such as jigsaw puzzles and the ERTL packaging from 1993-1999.
I hope that solves a Thomas mystery.

The mainland was always the other place that was there but left well alone. Now it seem Thomas needs to drift away from the magic of Sodor Island at any opportunity. It was bad enough going to Misty Island and Thomas was rescued from there, but the Mainland presents some huge confusion and delay issues. RIP Sodor Island.
Even worse, Mattel made the writers write Edward off the steam team, which is horrible to see.

It's really difficult making paint stick to UV affected plastic. Not only has that plastic lost it's colour it's become very brittle. Sadly these toys are never made to last more than a few years. Toy companies must love that.

I subscribed because you are a great youtuber I think you are either the first or second I subscribed to. Maybe don’t point out that was your Visa card pin ,unless you are joking which I hope you are anyway we don’t know your card number so you are still safe. I only found one Thomas activity table on Amazon for $60 and A$75.92 . That was Trevor the traction engine not Terence. The ride on Thomas with two button the holes in the is where the sound came from and I had one I believed one of the two buttons played the old Thomas anthem.
Those chocolates had more detail than some of the newer toys

I used to have a Thomas the tank engine & friends jigsaw puzzle with pictures of the wilbert awdrey stories. i had it in the 80s i needed to use it on the floor. It had Thomas Edward henry Gordon James Percy Toby and the logo.
i'm pretty certain that Owain guy made some cute Thomas books for kids, so I'm certain it's official stuff

Any time I look back to ERTL it really opens your eyes to how beautiful the toys were. Sure they were not perfect but overall they presented some really nice looking Thomas toys that hold their value pretty well.

We didn't say that it wasn't going to be on DVD, we said someone uploaded the full thing on CZcams. Also, you can download it on iTunes or iMovies or iVideos or whatever it's even called
Maybe go back and look what many in the Thomas CZcams community were saying. I was made out to be a fool because I had not seen the film because it was a free giveaway on CZcams. Many told me it was only available on CZcams because of the bond between Mattel and CZcams. To say it was not going to be a DVD release was totally fake news. Or maybe it served those who stole the film and were playing it on their channel.
