I do recommend iberostar and grand palladium hotels ,so next year we are going to an iberostar in mexico . my hubby does alot of research on hotels as He worries about hotels not being very good as you here of people having bad experiences I like to have the excitement of somewhere new . I will look for your video . we tend to do long haul as our main holidays and one cheaper one for a week

Hi STUART . I would say the Akumal . most people with children go to the cobra . both the Akumal and Tulum are on the beach . If you go to the Akumal there is a better bit of beach with a little walkway and peir you can still go there if you stay at the tulum , there is a beach bar right next to this if you are at the tulum you cant use that beach bar . , There are a few pools at the akumal one which is quite chilled out and then further along from the right of the pools is an activity pool .you dont know untill you walk to the right , further along there is an adult only pool which is an infinity pool . . The entertainment at the Akumal there is a choice of two . outside there is dancing with live bands , inside there are shows which last for about an hour . We went to the Akumal once in the evening by catching one of the little carts roughly 3 min away and that was more livelier .the show I thought was better a better atmosphere , but its no bother going there from the Akumal anyway . you can basically go all over the complex . I think the Tulum you can't . So definitely Akumal . we took our 11 year old daughter and at the akumal there were two or three children at the chilled pool and it was very nice and relaxing . The Sian Ka'an is adults only but its quite away from the beach so I would not go there

HI gail we found the food to be lovely . There are different stations . They have a mexican one , Healthy station, childrens station and cold food /salads and more . My daughter who is fussy found plenty to eat . we went to a couple of al a carte restaurants . which we found nice too . The beach is lovely . There are great big man made barriers like bolders that break up the sea so it makes it lovely and calm . it starts off shallow and goes quite deep .you can snorkel with no problem . lots of fish . I loved it there .
it was roughly 1 and a half hours but could take 2 at the most . The journey was not too bad plenty to see so it was exciting ,and there were toilets on the coach too lol
We re goin in january,,i know its crazy but we ve never been Ai before,always sc in past Greece etc ,,how much is too much to eat at restaurants buffet drinks etc? And should i feel embarrassed asking for food and drinks as its 'free'? Are there alot of awful insects? Thanks x
i certainly wouldnt worry on how much you eat . the buffet is self service and you can go as many times as you like to fill your plate . we do lol no one one will take any notice . same for drinks too . with buffets they open for set hours for example breakfast 7 - 10 ( all hotels are different ) go when you are ready to go and stay as long as you want too . lunch time buffet again set hours say 12 - 3 . If you feel hungry at 12 you can grab something and you can go back as mant times as you like even after you have left the buffet . drinks are served at bars around the complex you can get as many drinks at a time you want and just keep going back when you want one . if you have children they can go on their own too , make the most of it . you will probaly put on a stone lol . it works out cheaper than s/c in the end hhave a fab time its a great resort !! xx
the al a cartes you will have to book at the hotel for certain day and time . they give you a menu and you choose what you want . they will serve you .and bring you drinks to you like any restaurant you go to . if you want more drinks just ask . for buffets you can go in shorts / t shirts . if you have been swimming just stick them over the top you needn't change you must have foot wear of somesort . al acarte people have to dress up more men must have trousers and shoes

Hi Jiri. The weather was lovely and hot when we went . It did not rain once. The evenings were warm. In my opinion a nice time to go It wasn’t over crowded either. . We found the Tulum entertainment was better . Its easy walking distance or you catch the little train so I suggest you go one evening It was more lively but not unpleasantly so we discovered it late in the holiday as we stayed at our bit every night. You can also catch a collecivo bus to akumal at the entrance. Very cheap . Akumal has gigantic turtles that swim naturally in the sea. You can hire life jacket and snorkels. If you haven any. Cheap too. What an amazing experience. We had our daughter 11 yrs at the time. Its very safe. Also xcaret is beautiful and cenotes are amazing to. Enjoy x

I guess so. To be honest some people who are going to a resort for the first time may not know. I am sure that you knew and you did explain why you ventured into the dining room. It was just a by-the-way comment on my part. What I found funny is the mannerism of the guy. He was very serious.

Sarah Miller we got to Mexico around 2 pm. I think and it was about 1- 1.1/2 transfer so about 4 pm to destination
