Hereby introducing the BRIDGE Series, where I discuss the basic sciences in ophthalmology connecting with relevant applied aspects. The first in the series is on the Crystalline Lens. In part 1, we discussed the basic sciences - Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry.
In this Part 2, we shall learn on:
1. What is a cataract?
2. Etiologies + Pathophysiology + Morphology of cataracts:
a. Congenital
b. Age-related - Nuclear, Cortical, PSCC
c. Metabolic - incl. Diabetic cataract
d. Traumatic
e. Drug-induced
f. Secondary/ complicated
