4k Quality on Edits Tutorial (After Effects + Topaz settings)

- In this video, I walk you through my process of enhancing and rendering my edits to get the best and clearest quality ☻
DISCLAIMER:
I want to specify that these settings may look different depending on the clips you're using so please make sure you're using 4k or high 1080p scenes to get the best results. You can customize these settings to better fit your clips and understand that they may be less clear once all your effects/transitions have been added. I'd also like to mention that I usually adjust the settings on Topaz and my colorings on every edit, but these are the settings I'm most comfortable with and use the most on my edits.

i have created a nice 4k episode but i took my like more than a hour with a 3090 strix and my temperatures was was insane ,aybe i must do some undervolting and power target settings than im not go above 60-70 temperatures how u handle that

Everything is still on the new updated paid version. Just all of them are named differently now, a bit confusing
I don’t have media encoder is that like an important step or do you think I’d be able to skip it and still keep the quality?
yes the quality will be completely fine! i just load it through media encoder because it drastically minimizes the file size. for example the edit after rendering in ae render queue could be 2gb and after loading it through media encoder it’s now 21mb but with the same quality. i mostly just do it to save disk space :)

I honestly don't, I've used Handbrake in the past and messed with the settings, and no matter what I did the quality wasn't as good as it should be, maybe try downloading scene packs from somewhere else? I'm sorry :/
you could also try loading the video into media encoder, idk if it takes the kind of file your scenes are but it's worth a shot

i appreciate it this is really informative but im just a little unsure about your media encoder settings. theres no way a 50mb bitrate video doesnt get screwed by tiktok compression. i've been editing for a little and that's the only thing i keep trying to figure out. render settings to bypass tiktok's video compression. bc i see some tiktoks that look unreal but if i post something that looks the same after editing it looks really bad on tiktok. thats the best kept secret in editing community lol
Like I said: when you're uploading to tiktok on a phone, you have to choose the "Allow High-Quality Uploads" option. That's really all I do, I'm not hiding or misconstruing any info, those are genuinely the settings I use. And trust me, TikTok has ruined the quality of my edits before, usually because my WiFi isn't working.
@@wickedaep oh dont get me wrong. i wasnt saying you were gatekeeping or misinforming. i was just being a little bit skeptical about the renders settings bc i've tried multiple ones and i got screwed by tiktok using even smaller bitrate (which should help to avoid losing quality) but im on a different "niche" of editing (anime only) so the settings may be different
@@wickedaep i upload from my pc only which it has fiber so speed isnt a problem but i cant figure out the best settings yet. tiktok is very annoying in that sense lol
@@Nvcho_ Yeah, I agree TikTok definitely has some improvements to make on upload quality but unfortunately, I don't know of any workarounds :( maybe try uploading in AVI if you can? It's a bigger file size so TikTok might not even allow you to upload a file like that but it's the best quality After Effects produces in my experience. I've compared my edits in AVI format vs H.264 and AVI definitely is a bit more clear but just too heavy on my computer so I'm kinda forced to put it through the media encoder process to compress it lol.
@@wickedaep yeah media encoder is a must. if not a 10sec edit is over 1GB size lol. there's even people who use handbrake to compress an already compressed media encoder video even more.

For some reason when I drag exposure it doesn’t show in my adjustment layer
make sure you're using the right exposure plugin. you could be applying the text effect exposure lol
after your topaz render done, you put the video to after effect again. what is the composition? is it 3840 x 2160?
the composition is the same as before I rendered it, since I'm putting it into the same comp. The resolution in the comp settings throughout this whole video are 1920x1080!! if you follow the steps you'll probably have to zoom the enhanced clip out to 50% when you put it back into ae after running it through topaz.
where I can activate that option on tiktok if I am on pc?
when uploading to Tiktok from a PC it should automatically upload it in the best quality, the reason you have the option to enable it on mobile devices is because phones usually have less tolerance for larger files :)
It's easy to do a 4k from an original video source with a good quality, the original source already looks pretty good, see if you can do it from a dvd source, like you would do a 4k from a dvd original video source , 720x576,, If you can make a video we would appreciate it. Thank you
i’m not an expert in quality, i just posted this for my fellow fan pages who are looking to increase the quality of their edits (who are usually provided with several sources to get high quality scene packs) as for lower quality like 720x576 I have no idea how to enhance that type of footage to 4k, it sounds like AI could take a stab at it but there’s really only so far you can go with low quality like that (as far as I know😭)

Yes you can! topaz isn't limited to After Effects projects alone, you can load pretty much anything into it. As for getting Topaz for free, I'm not going to tell people to download it for free because that's considered pirating and I don't want to get into trouble haha.
@@wickedaep hey thanks for ur settings..its really working good..but its taking 2hrs of processing time for a 1 min video.. is there anything we can reduce the time? And also.. when i use these settings.. the person in the video becoming very smooth... which parameter should i change to get more detailed outline for the person.
@@annytheater I'm glad it's helping! Unfortunately, I haven't personally found a workaround for the processing time, but I definitely deal with the same lengthy renderings. Since it's AI I think it just takes longer since it's generating new and improved versions of the clips, but maybe Topaz and other AI-influenced companies will find a way to speed it up in the future! As for the smoothness, you can lower the "Revert Compression", "Dehalo", and "Reduce Noise" since those are all settings that center around smoothing things out, or you can turn up "Sharpen" and "DeBlur". Just messing around with the overall settings and finding what works for you is always helpful too :)

if you’re posting from your phone make sure you have good wifi and make sure “allow high quality uploads” is turned on. also sometimes posts will have bad quality for the first couple minutes because tiktok is till loading it

if you mean posting on TikTok that’s usually either a wifi problem or you just need to wait for TikTok to load it completely, my edits usually have lower quality for the first 5-10 minutes after uploading to TikTok!

I mean you can but in my experience it messes up the look of text and also changes the way your coloring looks

depends on the file size and how much quality recovery, but it will take a good chunk of time

in this video I used 30 to save time but in my edits I usually use 60

@@pjs_uchiha idk I personally just prefer 60fps because it looks cleaner in my camera roll and half the edits I make I don’t even post to TikTok 😂 i’ve noticed on my feed the 60fps does look a little bit smoother than 30fps but it’s honestly up to the editor and what they prefer

Yeah that's what works best for me because TikTok lowers the quality so only high levels of sharpen show up on my posts
