What's up, homies! Lisa Bilyeu here, and boy do we have a story for you. Ever wondered what it's like being married to the real 'Wolf of Wall Street'? Yep, the one Leonardo DiCaprio played in that blockbuster hit. Well, buckle up because today we're getting the inside scoop from the ex-wife herself, Nadine Macaluso, now known as Dr. Nae.
You know those charismatic, powerful men who sweep you off your feet with gifts, compliments, and the kind of romanticized drama that's straight out of a Hollywood script? Yeah, we're exposing them for what they really are - wolves in sheep's clothing. We're pulling back the curtain on the mesmerizing charm of true narcissists, and exposing how they use manipulation and coercion to keep us under their spell.
The thrill of being showered with admiration, only to later realize you’ve been set up for domination and control has happened to smart women, beautiful women, all kinds of women. Nadine has been there too, and she's come out on the other side with powerful lessons and insights about trauma bonding, power imbalance, and the allure of toxic attractive men.
But here's the best part, homies. Nadine didn't just survive; she thrived. She went from being the wife of the real 'Wolf of Wall Street' to becoming an author and therapist. In her book, 'Run Like Hell', she talks about recognizing and escaping from narcissistic abuse.
And for those of you who've managed to break free and are still piecing your life back together - Nadine's got a message for you: "He doesn't live in your house anymore, don't let him live in your head." It's time to evict those toxic thoughts and toxic lovers and reclaim your mental real estate!

[1:01:03] Create Meaning Out Of Pain
[1:09:53] Out Smart Him with Rebecca Zung
***Bonus Episode with Superstar Attorney Rebecca Zung***
Dealing with a narcissist is like playing chess with a master manipulator? Rebecca's here to hand us the winning moves. And she’s pointing out more than the red flags we often miss. She's teaching us how to understand the game, see through the ploys, and out smart the narcissist.
    Powerful Thoughts from Nadine Macaluso:
“Just by the very fact that you love someone, they have power over you.”
“I hate to tell you this, but the nice part is manipulative too.”
“As your confidence builds, true deep confidence - their tactics, their manipulations, they don’t sting as much.”
“He doesn’t live in your house anymore, don’t let him live in your head.”
“Abuse is always the fault of the pathological person.”

I have the “nice guy”. The “consistent guy.” The “stable guy.” He’s incredibly even keeled and I just discovered several months ago that he’s an extremely unassuming covert narcissist so there is almost virtually no one set of behaviors that is overtly identifiable unless you know the depth of what NPD is. Being “nice” was his way of diverting attention from his sneaky behaviors and because that’s how I perceived him, I overlooked all the red flags. The entire world needs an education on this disorder because it’s MUCH more prevalent than statistics suggest

Cluster b men are magnetic and know how to gain power and manipulate everyone, but that's not someone I am willing to spend life with.

At around 26 minutes in the video, she discusses leaving. She discusses threatening to leave. But NEVER do that. She's correct that during the time you're set on leaving - keep it to yourself. Many people threaten to leave in a last ditch attempt to get them to wake up and change their behavior. But by that point, you know and I know that will never happen. If a person whom you truly loved gets you to that point, you already know it's not love, and you need to get out of there. I'd invite people to watch the movie from the 90s titled "Sleeping with the Enemy" with Julia Robert's. Watch how she never, ever voices her decision to leave... she quietly plans her escape and does it. That's exactly how to play it - for your safety. Granted, they don't have children together and her way of leaving (the situation) is very dramatic, but it worked. At least in the beginning but I won't give spoilers.

Ohhh pathological lover, I had to rewind that. Good one. Sadly in some cultures, like mine, the narcissist is created. The males are raised to be with a woman who can treat em’ like mom does. He gets served hand and foot. Allowed to be dominant and entitled. But when the males are in a relationship and don’t receive that motherly role, they get emotionally or physically abusive. I’ve escaped 2 narcissists, a malignant and a covert, they didn’t know I had older brothers that behaved like them, narcissistic. I had to go!!!! No hard feelings, just not having a man that can’t differentiate his lady from his mother. I’d rather be single. I’ve given myself the best life, marching to the beat of my own heart in the name of Jesus. Not allowing my boundaries to be crossed. Thank you for this video Lisa. 🙏♥️🫶 Many blessings .♥️

Meanwhile, Women want a Man to treat them like how their daddy did, but will strip away his masculinity and self-esteem. You'll cheat on him repeatedly and find million of excuses, always make it his fault. You'll, sexually, psychologically, mentally, and Spiritually abuse a good Man. I don't know what culture you are apart of, where Men get to be Men,but it sounds like a dream come true in comparison to what is going on in America, because the suicide rate in Men is 4 times higher than women and teenagers, and hearing you complain about Men being treated like Men, and I mean with respect, makes me realize that western women are the cause for this suicide rate in Men according to the statistical evidence...

Whoa. 😯 I have a Son & as a single mother I drive myself crazy sometimes wondering about is he emotionally intelligent enough? Am I hard enough on him? I make him cook twice a week because I want him to have that life skill before he goes off to college. I have him watch Tony Gaskins videos from time to time. He reads non-fiction books on emotional intelligence, leadership, finance, self-help… but I do make his plate on occasion. Not waiting and serving hand and foot, but sometimes I 2nd guess and ask myself: “Am I doing this right?” It’s hard…to balance not doing too much to the point of enabling, but doing enough so that a Son feels loved & supported. I am a praying mother as well. I cover him w/ prayer as best I can, but the reality is that sometimes they are going to be who they are going to be no matter how hard we try to pour the right things into them. I pray that he gets everything he needs now so that he doesn’t have to search for it or heal it later. 🙏🏽

I am sorry for what you went through. Sadly, what you experienced is very common as there're many more toxic/unhealthy people there're healthy ones. And it doesn't matter the race, religion, age, profession, or financial background of the person. Sometimes, they're relatives, friends, religious leaders, etc. Regardless of who it is, always remember that you are WORTHY of love, you are enough, & you have a Heavenly Father, Jesus, who will never leave you or betray you!
It is important that you pray when you have dreams & visions & intuition that are not for your good (and the good of others). They can be demonic attacks from Satan to harm you or a loved. Praying in your dream is a way for God to protect you as well. Even as we're sleeping (for Christians), God puts a hedge of protection over us!
Psalm 91 is one of the best & most powerful scriptures to read & memorize. It talks about, "God covering us with His feathers & protecting us from harm. So even if 10,000 fall on our right side, they will not come near us." Read the Bible as it is God's word & He will lead you to scriptures that will give you wisdom on dealing with everything in life.
If you are not a Christian, I pray that you'll get to know Jesus. He ALONE can bring you SALVATION, forgiveness of your sins, & protection from ALL harm. Jesus loves you & died on the cross, so that you & I would have eternal life with him.
Ephesians 6:10-18 also talks about us not wrestling with flesh and blood, but principalities, rulers, & powers of this dark world (demonic things), so put on the full armor of God. Stay close to Jesus, everyone, He ALONE is your REFUGE! He will also give us the wisdom/discernment whether through praying, reading the Bible, educational books/videos like this, & other healthy resources. They will will help us to protect ourselves, maintain healthy relationships, faith, hope, & peace, & goodness! In Christ, from the U.S.A.🙏

Something that really adds to the damage done to a person and the length of time it takes is if her family is narcissistic and already scapegoats you. My ex was a diagnosed sociopath and he weaponized my narcissistic family against me and it was devastating to me and our two children. My eldest son didn't even survive it.

It was scary and confusing and I didn’t understand what was happening. Thank god he left willingly and me and my kids are safe but it was crazy. Narcissist’s all do the same thing. Ugh I’m so glad they were talking about the reactive part of it. I have been there and you literally open your eyes to what the reality of the situation is. You start thinking you’re the toxic one which to some extent maybe you are but the thing is you are awake to it and don’t want to be like that. So it all comes down to why don’t we just leave this relationship instead and prioritize and love ourselves rather than trying to fix and make something work that’s not meant to work because instead it’s bringing out a worse version of ourselves.

Just want to point out about the idea of imbalance of power bit. While its true that as Nadine said 'just the fact that you love them already creates an imbalance of power' then went on to say 'he made all the money' and so on. Well, just because someone makes the money and is a bread winner, does not make them the powerful person and in turn does not make the home-maker any less then in a relationship. When a woman buys into that way of thinking, you automatically assign that role to yourself and you unknowingly consign any perceived power over to them.
The truth is that your value and worth has much more leverage than you realize. Without you, the bread winner has no baked bread to eat, no home to come home to, and no warm bed to sleep in.
And anyone who doesn't acknowledge, validate, and honor the value you add to their life by being their life partner, does not need to be your partner. You get to choose who is and who is not part of your life.

I'm so glad I watched this one this morning. What a bright, gorgeous, & intelligent woman. I really appreciate the genuine honesty with which Nadine speaks & shares. No platitudes or BS over the top cheer leading. Real stuff, connected to a survivor, which allows us to see ourselves & to become more informed. One objection I have is the the term "reactive abuse". I considered it for a couple of years after my own volatile relationship ended, but ultimately, I agree it is reactive, but I don't agree it's abuse (even though it might involve emotional or physical violence. As someone who (might) start dating in the later spring, I will use this vid to help me not make similar choices to those I've made in the past. Lucky are those who are her clients

1:06:26 I’ve heard a psychologist and life coach say to try remaining single for the amount of time you were with that abusive person (within reason). But beyond staying single for a couple of years, that might be overkill. How long did some of you intentionally stay single with the _closed for business_ sign up after a break up, in order to not fall back into unhealthy patterns?
