What rad cars are on your bucket list? Also, anyone know the correct way to pronounce Alcyone? I'm not sure if I got it right. I went with the Merriam-Webster pronunciation but other people seem to pronounce it differently. 🤔

Fun fact you can replace the 1.8l v6 or 2.0l v6 engine in a Lantis with the 2.5l v6 in the Probe. But if you're going to do that you may as well get the KLZE. Will even run on the Lantis 323F BA ECU, wiring etc.. There's a reason Pontiac went under. I'd call that Ferrari color bronze. Cavalier Z24 86-87 with the V6 and 5 speed would be more fun. If you want a Beretta you go to the Beretta forum. I've driven a 1 of 5 (possibly only 3) Beretta convertible... that was never sold. 90' Indy pace car. Only the actual pace cars were convertibles and this one was hands down the coolest looking Beretta. although it was not safe. ASC made all the cars. One is in a museum.

The majority of the cars he mentioned were not even eligible for cash for clunkers. Clapped out Explorers and other trucks and SUVs were the main casualties of cash for clunkers. On top of that all the cars scrapped during cash for clunkers was only a tiny drop in the bucket in comparison to all the cars junked when scrap was sky high around 07/08.

My father had a Subaru XT, I loved that thing. It's where I fell in love with cars. The digital dash was awesome - there was a mini XT on it that would drive along. Pressing the red 4WD button on the shifter would "fill in" the wheels on the digital dash. The car would lower at speed, also controllable with buttons on the pods. The mini car on the dash would actually raise and lower! You point out the asymetrical steering wheel, but the manual version of this car had a fighter-jet style shifter boot. It was like a joystick, not leather or fabric. The "square" wheels and pop up headlights make the XT pinnacle 80s.

Growing up our family had a Lumina APV. This was around the first time we went to Disney so I’ve always had a fondness for those vans looking like a monorail to me. Despite looking like Dustbusters, I believe I read the shape was not only for aerodynamics but alluded to the side profile of a horse’s head.
The removable seats with cup holders on the backs were cool, the pop-out windows were neat, the sliding door was very cool, love the built in air pump, the dash was enormous. I appreciate that my parents went for a more excitingly designed car versus the venerable caravan or town and country.
I remember in the 90’s movie Ladybugs, the company car of Rodney Dangerfield was a Oldsmobile Silhouette, the most luxurious version of the car with two sliding doors that were automatic. Man I still want one.
It was a real bummer to facelift the vans seeing as they were so sleek. The facelift made them look dumpy, the rounded headlights are all too wrong for that design.
By the way, love your channel. It’s refreshing to have someone appreciate the less appreciated cars. Anyone can say a car is ugly or a failure, but they totally miss the point. These cars are fun and innovative and have expressive design.

My favorite being the pistol grip/joystick style shifter for the 5 speed, with a great big red fire button to activate the AWD. We blew the clutch out in short order when we decided to take it off road in the woods. Fun times!

I own a 1988 Nissan pulsar with a manual and a CA18DE engine that I love! It was my first car, and while it ran, it was brilliant. I learned how to drive manual on it(mostly from movies and video games) so that should give you an idea of how nice that transmission was, and the engine was smooth, strong and sounded great until it blew(head gasket and piston rings, the last owner beat on it pretty hard). If anyone in these comments sees this and knows of anywhere on the west coast I could repair it, let me know! But I absolutely recommend picking one of them up, even if its not the sportbak. My mom had the XT back in the 80s. That thing was a blast to drive. It was just the standard 4-banger, but it had some serious grunt even in 4th gear! What I liked is the tilt wheel. You pulled this lever under the steering column and not only did the steering wheel raise and lower, but the pods on the side also raised and lowered...*AND* the instrument cluster inside the dash went up and down! This little manual transmission car also came with the Subaru Hill Holder clutch! It made driving a stick super easy! One problem though...they are basically disposable. There is nothing rebuildable in that thing. It's all plastic and when its exposed to all that UV, it breaks and cracks..and that engine? Yeah...all the mechanics where we lived then refused to work on it. They said it would cost more than a new car to repair it...the dreaded head gaskets. Not even 100K and it had to be towed away as junk!

I have a red 84 Fiero SE, moon roof, all electric, 66,000 miles, always garaged, bought new, looks like it just rolled off the production line. Well taken care of, all maintenance paper work, all recalls done, runs like brand fucking new. Not a nick, scratch, ding of any kind anywhere in or on the car. If you take care of your car it will take care of you. From an old guy...

I owned an 88 Nissan Pulsar NX recently. Blew the motor the day I got it. Then blew another a year later. 3rd one Worked good though. This was a stock CA18DE motor with a 5 speed manual. It was pretty much stock, and in amazing shape. The only thing I did to it was put coilovers in it, because the suspension was shot. That made the car so much fun! I originally bought it in coupe form, but I actually found the sport back cover off of craigslist in the same color. This car was a lot of fun and I'm glad I had it, but I was happy to sell it about 5 years ago. It never came with A/C and had a lot of trouble passing smog.

His old man looks at the car disapprovingly, and says to the kid: "I thought we agreed you were gonna get a Subaru!" The kid takes off his shades and says: "But dad, I did".
