Today’s video is a super random vlog on how I started my baking business, which you guys must already know if you follow me on Instagram (cue to follow me).
So, I have been super passionate about baking for so long and finally decided to put myself out there and strat my business. But, unfortunately COVID had other plans and thus I had to take a backseat soon after my launch. However, I loved shooting this vlog and thought that it will be informative and useful for you guys as well.

Tip when u place your cake in the box . For extra safety u can add tap at the bottom of the cake board. Just so it doesn't move in transportation

I too started it back in quarantine because i have been very passionate about baking but then I was unable to manage the cost (leftovers wasted, overall no idea how to price because alot of effort goes into them which isn't the case at commercial bakeries also they use cheaper products) so I just left it hanging 🥺
Hey, don't give up yet. You have learnt so many things now from doing it. So look for solutions... take time out to plan your pricing, plan the baking to minimise wastage etc. And a home baker can never compete with commercial bakeries... but we offer a personalised and made from home product that they can never match upto. It will take time, but you will find ur market.
Keep going! Consider what youu have done so far, as training. You certainly know much more than you did by now. Success is waiting for you. All the best!😊

Hi dear, keep up the networking, it takes time for it to materialise into full orders. Try running some bake sales and sample sales to get people to get a taste of your cakes. Take feedbacks and work on them to ensure flow of future orders😊
Hi, when you get down to pricing apart from the ingredients used. How much is usually added for the time spent on the cake, as in the labour cost per hour. TIA 😊
It depends... we need to add other factors like electricity, equipments used etc. as well...

I love baking and cooking. I have a 15 months baby and we live in IITH Staff Quaters since my husband is one of the staff. The place this campus is located has a huge opportunity for food business, even the students could be the potential buyers!!
But I am not sure on whether and how to start my baking business. I definitely searched for the FSSASI certification too....but I was a little unsure whether I would be able to manage everything with my baby since it's just the 3 of us...may be it'd take a little time...
Hey Pragna, don't worry, you can do it. Start small if you are unsure. Take only very limited orders with good time gap so that you can manage easily. You can build your business in time. All the best!!!

Thank you so much! Pricing is always a combination of various factors like raw materials, our effort, other things like packaging, electricity etc. However, you always need to keep the competition in mind as well to be successful.

Which shop did u buy the boxes for the cake? Thanks for the video!
I got some boxes from local shops in Kerala. But you can get similar ones from local cake shops... I have purchased some from Dainty flavours or New Arife Lamoulde.

How did you get your Instagram and branding sorted? I just watched this video and I’m a home baker too, it’s been a quite difficult for me to get orders
Branding was done using Canvas only. For Instagram, I look at other pages for Inso and keep my feed organised like that. Try all ways to start getting orders... use all your connections like friends, colleagues, neighbours, relatives etc.

@@ms-bg5ub hey, I mostly learned through my mom. She taught me all possible techniques of piping tips and lots of tricks on how to get the perfect puff pastry. Rest was just lots of practice by watching CZcams tutorials.
