This video contains some basics about float level height adjustments for European carburettors.
Even tho i use the float assembly of a Weber DCOE, the points made should be valid for a wide range of weber and dellorto products.

Brilliant thank you, I don’t suppose you know where to find manufactures specifications, my webber haynes manual only does a few carbs

Try either internet or better still a user of the carb in your intended application. They can tell you if the factory setting works well (most of the times it does tho).
