Ancient magus bride was one of those anime I enjoyed from the fall season
Yeah aside from that Land of the Lustrous was about the only other saving grace to be had from that Fall Season. The Fall Season was just a rough one for shows. I can't recall a Season where I dropped so many series.
+Viktor Bryce actually land of the lustrous was so underrated that I never watched that show .Everyone kept recommending this series
All I can say is it's highly recommended for a reason. It's a great production work by Studio Orange and put simply one of the very few CGI series that's executed with immense caution to details and it's surroundings. That's not to say that that's it's only highlight as it does have a broadening story with unique characters. By that I mean sure I'm practically certain the show would have done much worse if it wasn't done in CGI. But at the same time animation techniques don't make the show in it's entirety.
What I found for myself personally that kept me coming back was it's simplistic intricacies of the characters. And the other being it's parable world that slowly gets revealed episode by episode in a rather cliffhanger like ending as the plot further unravels it's self. Thus excellent reasons to keep one coming back for more if you found yourself watching as it aired like I was. Now you can just binge watch it as a whole. Aren't you lucky :D
I can't say for certain if your one of those people like I was who had the refusal to give CG anime the time of day. Mainly due to it's aesthetic and in general being handled in such a lack luster manner. If you are someone who finds yourself like this then please don't look at this series in the traditional sense. Instead look at it as a new medium that can only be portrayed through CGI animation. It's the reason why a lot of the community say it's a hidden gem.
So yeah sorry about the ramble I went off on but I do recommend it. If you do find yourself to actual sit down and watch it I sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Also, I hope that Ancient Magus Bride continues to keep up the great work. It's been a pleasure watching every week as it airs. And if you haven't watched the 3 part OVA work then I'd go over watching those as it's a prequel. Just my recommendation maybe go over those afterwards as you've dove into the actual series.
+Viktor Bryce I watched it and the CGI is good but the story was slow and your right .The main heroine Phos was great
Well I'm glad you liked the main heroine at least. And I told you the story is slow but I felt that's what brought about the suspense. Every episode practically ended on a cliff hanger moment. So it only brought out the emphasis of making one want to watch it that much more. And the CGI is easily one of the most well handed to date in terms of overall quality.
It's just strange to see a character have so much steadfast development so quickly. I think that's why a lot of people like Phos character so much. Personally though my overall favorite was Cinnabar even thought she nor any of the other's for that matter garnered much screen time. Well for now it's a wait for another season which I really hope we get. If not it's me resorting to the manga, which sadly just isn't gonna be the same. I'll miss that crisp CGI.
And as for AMB how have you been enjoying it's 2nd part? I'm dying to catch episode 15 due to 14's cliffhanger.
