@ Caboose I had so much fun I plan on going back every year. I am already planning this year's trip. What did you think? I enjoyed the live siege gun display.
@16lydgate The numbers: 15,000 infantry 300 calvary per side 100 artillery pieces per side unknown amount of civilian reenactors Half the reenacting force was on the field in the morning and the other half at night. The continuous sound of musket fire started in the morning and continued all day long. I took a hit when my musket got too hot to load and I was getting burned through my wool jacket when at shoulder arms.
I think you all look tramendous! I'm going to Gburgh Saturday 147th anniversary! So Stoked. I am from PA. Born in another time I'd probably have fought at Gburg
Those are some well-fed soldiers - most beyond the average lifespan for that time. Reenactment look ok as long as you are at least a half mile away so you cannot see just how inaccurate they are in their portrayal. Way too many children involved. The general public likes em though - I did them for 15 years until they got really silly and I knew I could at least remove one that wasn't the right age!
thanks oneskiwonder...members of the uk southern skirmish association were there as the 1st louisianas...iam in the 1st maryland artillery myself.
