What helps me for both Marta and Marie with Izzy is trying to force them into a long guard thrust, then use the âĄY X (or âĄX Y) combo to put their rapier down and land a nice slash to the body. But it's a matter of good distance control and counter reaction time (and some faith in the physics engine, too đ)

That's how it was in the old days. I am still surprised with how thin those specialized knives were to go between armor gaps. My blood turns ice cold at the thought of expertly getting the blade between those gaps.

I really like this game, it brings back memories of playing Bushido Blade(1997) in the PS1 back when i was a kid. It was unlike any other game, no health bars or anything, only needed one single good hit to go down, parry feint or dodge was up to you.
we need more fighting games like that, i also personally want a fighting and shooting game hybrid. something like cqc bases from MGS but bare bones shooting
I'm so glad I'm not the only one talking about bushido blade. That is still to this day one of my favorites of all time. I would play it like all day trying to beat the wave mode
@@jordanleonard6540 It was a gane ahead of its time, always keeping you tense and on guard to not receive a fatal blow. Happens the same with Tenchu and the stealth&assasination gameplay concept, no Metal gear Assasins creed or anything, Tenchu was there before anyone.

@@dumdum7099 Tenchu was released on February 1998, and Metal Gear solid on September 1998. The first Metal Gear from 1987 had some crude line-vision hiding elements, but hardly like the stealth gameplay conecpt we know today in modern (and not so modern) games.
To be honest, the samurai in armor should have similar health to Samuel. I know it is a mod but I think the samurai should not have had armor.
Fully agreed. For the sake of realism, the samurai should not have been in armour.
In this mod the armour appears to be next to useless.
@@stuartclarke3171It is not the modders fault. Mods in the game are only skins thus far. Plus the point of arcade mode is so that it is challenging, you fight Samuel unarmored while he has the advantage of armor.

I hope they add a kendoka to the game. Itâs one of the most iconic fencing styles.
Isabel's longsword swordsmanship is very similar to Japanese Kendo.
I'm Japanese, so I really hope samurai will be included in this game.

This does look similar to Kenjutsu in many ways when it is actually tested in sparring. The only thing that's out of place is the amount of intentional blade contact which you do not see as often.
Keep in mind the longsword and the katana are extremely similar weapons, and even the false edge cuts can be and were performed historically with a katana by just tilting your wrists in the right way. Biomechanics play a big role in these similarities; Japanese or European, a human is a human.

quart is the fourth guard position in classical fencing, they are numbered, but in other languages basically
it wont let me link here, but if you google 'fencing quart meaning' the wordpress link titled part 19: fencing parries has an excellent chart that explains this

Watched a lot of videos on that games combat and it's a mess. I'm surprised so many people like that
What an inaccurate way to portray a samurai warrior. Samurais didnt disrespect their enemies by dancing in front of them. They didnt spin their katana like that. Once they finished, they will immediately keep their sword before they end their fighting stance. Samurai also fight with two weapons. One is katana, the other is a samurai knife.
This swordsman is a female swordsman named Isabella, only she is wearing a samurai costume
She is not trying to replicate the movements of a samurai
Samurai mainly fought with bows and spears. Just like every other warrior caste prior to the dominance of guns and muskets.
Samurai did disrespect their enemies wtf are you talking about? Samurai are mercenaries. They killed, tortured and did whatever because no one would stop them. You've been watching to much anime brother, do real research. They didn't even fight with Katanas, they fought with spears, bows and knives. If they had a katana it was more for prestige not about use of the weapon. Rogue samurai would use swords because that's all they had.
