A decent new airplane would be a velocity XL-RG which is 200k~ (+/-50k depending on the engine you get) plus you have to store the aircraft somewhere (around $500-$1000 a month for a hangar in Provo) Plus you need fuel, which is around $4.80 to $5.58 an hour in the Provo Utah area. To add onto of that you need to get insurance and general maintaince is really expensive. Cessna's cheapest New airplane is a 172 which clocks in at around 500k and leaves much performance to be desired. An engine overhaul on a cessna 172 can cost anywhere from 16k-30k for every 2000 hours you use that aircraft. A flight from Provo Utah to Dillon Montana (southern part of the state) would take around 3 hours each way. Doing the math, round trip 6 hours (taxi time and etc would add extra time onto this) and you can go to MT 330 times before spending another 16-30k on a engine overhaul. Also all your maintaince cannot be done in your hangar unless you hold your A&P license and even then some A&Ps have a special IA designation for specific things.
