"J. Edwin Ed Holliday, passed away peacefully after a brief illness in Reno, NV on Friday, September 2nd. Ed Holliday was a Managing Director with L&S Advisors, a Registered Investment Advisory firm based in Los Angeles, CA.
Ed Holliday was born on December 24, 1943 in Fayetteville, WV. His father was a coal miner and later, a school bus driver. His mother was a census taker for the U.S. Government and owned a tea salon in town. After graduating from WV University, Institute of Technology, with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Ed took a job as an engineer with the Trane Corporation in Ohio.
A passion for aviation led Ed to a job offer selling airplanes in Colorado for Beechcraft Corporation. That, in turn led to his first job as a wholesaler for an oil & gas companys limited partnership. Ed moved with his wife and family to Orange County, CA in 1985. Over the next three decades, Ed enjoyed an enviable reputation as the consummate wholesaler to the financial services community. Ed was an active member, and for one term, the President of the Orange County chapter of the International Association of Financial Planners (IAFP).
In the mid 1990s, Ed was the National Sales Manager for ATEL Corporation, based in San Francisco, CA. In 1997, Ed left ATEL to join Campbell & Co., a managed futures firm and was there more than eleven years. Ed returned to the warmer climate of Laguna Niguel, which he loved.
In 2015, Ed moved to Reno, NV to be closer to his companion, Pamela and her family.
In addition to Eds passion for aviation and flying, Ed was a car nut and audiophile, loved to travel and was an adventurer, always curious about what was new in technology. Ed was a lifetime member of the L.A. & O.C. Audio Society, American Bonanza Society, and of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Ed was a licensed pilot and flew his own Beechcraft plane. Ed was looking forward to being on the first Virgin Galactic space flight. Ed was a storyteller extraordinaire, starting with stories from his childhood in West Virginia through the many places he lived and traveled over the years. Ed loved to read, especially mysteries, and listened to books on tape as he crisscrossed the country on his business travels.
Ed had a joie de vivre that all who knew him will always remember. His goal was to make the world a better place for all he met and he quietly helped many people who will never forget his kindness.
Ed is survived by his two sons David Holliday, Jason Holliday and his wife Susan, and son, J.J. all of Hilton Head, SC, his four step-children, Russel Thompson of Palm Springs, CA, Michelle Thompson Arellano and family and brother Aaron, all of Salt Lake City, Utah. Eds parents and only sibling, Joan, predecease him.

That low RPM redline is due to the fact that the V8 was taken out of a 1959 Bentley saloon. Of course, they fiddled with it for a bit but this is probably one of the longest serving V8s ever. It's last hurrah was with the last Bentley Mulsanne that rolled off the production line this year in Crewe, Cheshire. By the way, Bentley should build a successor to the Brooklands. Best ultra-luxury coupe I have seen ever. And if you thought Cadillacs were a yacht, wait till you see this cruiser.

Doug, regarding the 6 position seat heater, yes, I could tell the difference in my friend's Jetta Wolfsburg. I always set it on level 4 or 5, depending on the outside temperature. 6 was too hot, 3 was okay for spring mornings, otherwise the 1 and 2 setting were too weak, but you could tell they were trying.
On another note, the Brooklands has been my favorite Bentley since it came out, before that was the Arnage. I am not the target demographic, by age or income or anything, but it's just so cool! I always thought with that much torque it would be fun to tow a boat with it, just to see people's reactions

If anyone is curious, here is more on "J. Edwin Holliday", who has since passed [RIP]:
    J. Edwin Holliday (Ed) was a car nut and audiophile, loved to travel and was an adventurer, always curious about what was new in technology.

It makes since now that it just an unusual design for a cup holder. Can’t say whether Doug knew what it really was or not but I can see why someone might might not guess it’s a cup holder given its round tissue box top opening shape. J.
