Thank you so very much for your videos and tips. We recently took a trip to Switzerland and the knowledge you shared was priceless. I took the lists of must do and gifts to take home, as well as foods to try. Wow! We did our best to try as much of the foods as possible. My husband is a huge fan of Rosti with ham and cheese on top. We asked to substitute Rosti for fries when we could as well. Yum. The cheeses, fondue, chocolate--all of it was delicious. And don't even get me started on the macaroni! Also, the Coop and Megro brands of Swiss chocolate was delicious and we saved some money and still brought home some great gifts. Thank you!

I concur with both the wines and fondue. We had an authentic fondue with some Swiss cousins in Lausanne. We also had lunch with some other cousins on their farm near L’Isle. Their milk goes to the local cheese factory to produce gruyere. We also had some wonderful croissants.

@@gailgohrick5836 I was there from 2/24 thru 3/3 and most days were clear. The mornings started out cloudy but the 🌞 was out most of my trip. Hope this helps 😊.
Did you do 1st class? We are going April 3rd. My husband and I will have window seats facing each other so there are seats beside both of us that are currently open, all of the seats on the side with 2 (vs 4) seats were full. Hoping this isn't awkward to get in and out as needed.
@jodibell1926 Yes, I went with my friend and we sat in window seats facing each other in a 2 seater. You're gonna love it. The red carpet entering the train car was a nice touch 👌🏿.

Heard that it is going to be quite a crowded weekend due to Labour Day holiday and there might be demonstrations in celebration of Labour day in some cities including Zurich. Great list.. I did quite a few of these things on my trip there in September. A big highlight for me was touring the old towns, castles, and churches. I would have loved to go hiking in the mountains but didn’t have anyone to go with me.
One thing I would like to know.. where are the fruit orchards located? I adore apricots, and had so many apricot pastries, tarts, and jams while I was there, I wondered where you could buy them fresh. I’m already planning my next trip there from the US. Actually would even like to come there to work. I fell in love with Switzerland immediately and feel such a connection to it, as my family came from there years ago. The food was all so delicious and the scenery was more beautiful than anything I’ve ever seen.
We have fruit orchatds (and farms) all over Switzerland. But there are some fruits we have in mind with a certain region as they have more of this fruit than in other regions. That's the case with apricots. Swiss think of the canton valais as of the main Swiss region of Apricots. Zermatt is in the canton of valais, but there are many orher beautiful towns and villages. The main season for Swiss Apricots is July - August.
Hello from Basel, of course you hit the mark with your tips, especially the old paddle steamers, for fans of old craftsmanship and engineering, almost a must, but the Pilatusbahn (steepest cog railway in the world) should also be mentioned here, which ones too is a masterpiece of its kind.
Foundue, of course, "moitié/moitiè" (half/half Gruyère & Freiburger Vacherin) a variant, I personally vary a bit to 60/40, but that depends on personal taste.
Importantly, the "Swiss Cheese" known in the USA has something to do with Swiss cheese (and least of all with Gruyère).

Hi there! Yes you can take your dog with you on public transit in Switzerland. If they are smaller than 30cm and in a container they are free otherwise you’ll need to get them a ticket (will be inexpensive but they’ll need one)
The only exception is when food is served, so dinner cruises and the glacier express would apply here

Were visiting Switzerland for 2 days after our trip in Munich. Dec 2 -4, departing in Zurich. What areas can you suggest during this month that,includes scenic train views? And is lucern be a good home base for us to begin with?

You mention purchasing wine and cheese to take home. How does that work for customs and refrigeration for the cheese?
Depends on what country you’re from but you can take cheese through customs. I usually make sure to get vacuum sealed ones they’ll last better through the journey - the luggage that’s checked is quite cold in the cargo part of the plane
I have purchased swiss pass 1st class. Unfortunately, the seat reservation of panoramic train for glacier express or bernina express that i plan to travel on a specific date is fully booked. Any other way to get it?
I would keep checking - seats often open up closer to the date as people's plans change!
I used the self service farmer services many times living in Lucerne

Yes Switzerland is a wonderful place to visit, so many sights and enjoyable experiences!!!
But what really made my trip there even more enjoyable is the Swiss don't allow refugees to take over their country.
Go to Italy or France and you will be bombarded with beggars and thieves, Switzerland not so much if at all!!!
Makes for a much more enjoyable and safe stay:)
