  • My personal ranking of Disney openings. Remember, this is MY opinion! Feel free to share yours in the comments.
I've been working on this ranking for a while, but after seeing Amber Basti's ranking, I've decided to finish mine.
Some movies were left out (Fox and the Hound, Dumbo) simply because I don't have much connection to them, and the video would be too long!
    Versions :
    Bambi - Croatian
    Pocahontas - Japanese
    Tangled - Mandarin
The Princess and the Frog - Thai
    Sleeping Beauty - German
    Alice in Wonderland - Polish
    The Aristocats - French
    Hercules - Russian
    Oliver & Company - Finnish
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh - Dutch
Lady and the Tramp - Greek
    Pinocchio - Arabic
    Cinderella - Portuguese
    The Little Mermaid - English
    Peter Pan - Swedish
    Tarzan - Castilian
Beauty and the Beast - English
    Aladdin - Hungarian
The Hunchback of Notre Dame - Norwegian

Firstly, what a great idea! Loved it :) I love openings and I think if we don't get touched immaditey in the beginning of the movie, probably we won't further. I would place Tangled and Pocahontas' openings higher but I agree with about Lion King, Beauty & the Beast, Aladdin and The Hunchback of NotreDame. :D Keep doing this great and original videos of yours!!

    I love your video ;)
Except for Pocahontas that would be on my top 15 Raiponce, bambi, Hercules (in my top 10 for sure) and Peter Pan (Maybe in my top 20 but not in my top 10)
I think I agree with your ranking ;)
Especially your top 5 saddly there is no great spirit (Brother Bear)

Same. Personally I think Pocahontas should’ve been a lot higher, but personally I definitely agree the movie itself should’ve began with Steady as the Beating Drum and completely got rid of the Virginia Company.

Chills, chills everywhere, help :'3 I have no words to describe the opening track of Beauty and the Beast, a favourite since I was little, such enchantment. Your first place is majestic, and I'm so happy for your third place, I love it and it always makes me smile! Absolutely stunning video*--*

Beautiful video! Lion King, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Aladdin are all time classic favorites, no matter what place they are, they have the most special openings! I am glad you like the opening of Aristocats, I used to find it very cute!!! ❤❤❤

How I loved this video! We agree SO much!
First, your top 3 is absolutely wonderful. These are among my absolute favorites. I just want to go to Hawaii each time I see Lilo and Sitch's opening. Same for Aladdin, which is my favorite classic (with the Hunchback which is 2nd in my list), each time I see the palace I'm just speachless and I got chills everywhere, that's so wonderful and powerful like nothing else.
What can I say about The Bells of Notre-Dame? The first time you see the cathedral withthe clouds around it, you get an unique feeling, an undescribable feeling, and at this moment you're perfectly certain that this movie is going to be a monumental masterpiece.
Same for Mulan, The Little Mermaid, Tarzan (I always cry when I see the two parents looking each other and then realize they're alive and that's what really counts) and OMG The Jungle Book! I'm so happy to see someone loving this intro as much as me! This deep and haunting sound is so delicious and melancholic, the jungle is also captivating and fascinating, I'm crazy about it.
I'm a huge fan of the classical openings, like Bambi, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (literally one of the best, this is so huge and powerful, I feel like something enormous is happening when I hear this opening, especially when the title appears... oh this is so.. art!), Pinocchio (When You Wish Upon a Star is one of my absolute favorite Disney songs. I always get many chills when I hear it, and when I listen to it, I always get a warm and hopeful feeling, that makes me cry but also gives me hope, and that's absolutely amazing), Cinderella (the solo in the middle is AMAZING. I've always love it !), The Sword in the Stone, The Aristocats (this French charm reminds me my own country haha, love it! It's like you and Frozen's opening!), Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland and Lady and the Tramp.
Overall, I'm just very sad you didn't put The Journey from The Rescuers, it seems like everybody forgets about it.. I still think this is one of the best openings ever, so melancholic, powerful and beautiful

I'm glad to see a ranking like this! Great choices (even if Bambi's placement isn't quite where I'd have it)!
Also, what do you think of The Rescuers opening?

    • @marij.8642
      @marij.8642  Před 7 lety +2

I was planing on having "The Rescuers" in this one, but then the video would have been too long :( I think it's a very unique opening. It never really stood out to me, but the music is quite nice and it leaves you curious as to what's going to happen ! :D

what an unique idea, I loved it! my personal favourite would be Lilo & Stitch opening so I'm sooo happy to see it so high! first place is very well deserved, so chilling and impressive @__@ also thanks a lot for using polish version of Alice in Wonderland ♥

I respectfully disagree about the Pocahontas opening. I find it wonderful. The melody is catchy and it puts you in the mood to keep listening to the much different rhythm of Steady As the Beating Drum.
Same for Robin Hood's, I always loved the tune :) and The Aristocat's, I found it adorable ^^.
I love Mulan's, The Little Mermaid's, The Lion King's, The Beauty and the Beast's (possibly my favourite), Aladdin's and The Hunchback of Nother Dame's.
Never heard it before, but I grew in the 90s and I would call The Great Mouse Detective's music a typical 90s children's movie music ('Beethoven').

  • @strubel946

Excellent video and great idea to rank these openings. Some of them are very hypnotic, emotional and put you in the mood of the movie like The Jungle Book, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Little Mermaid. These are my big favorites so I'm glad to see them high :D
I would maybe put Bambi higher and Peter Pan and The Great Mouse Detective lower but I think I agree overall ;)
I agree for Oliver & Company, not my favorite too and infact the only things I like in this movie are some songs and this opening. Gosh it's so moving !!!! I always want to cry when I see that nobody adopts Oliver and then when he's alone under the rain :O
Thank you for including Maurice Chevalier for The Aristocats, this movie is a great tribute to this remarquable artist :)
Oh me too when I saw Lilo & Stitch as a child, I asked to my parents to spend holidays in Hawaii but I had no idea that it was complicated and expensive to go there xD
And maybe I would have included the opening of The Rescuers, it's quite fascinating to me when we see the bottle in the sea with the storm. What do you think of it ?
Great video as alwyas and sorry for this long comment^^

Oh I didn't see your comment, I'm glad someone thought about The Journey (The Rescuers), I really would have included it (and in the top 5!)

Lion King is one of the best, not just Disney openings, but movie openings of all time, so why is it only 8th? Also Pocahontas and Hercules should be higher than all of those without animation!
With that said The Bells of Notre Dame is also my favorite.

  • @ForeverEva
    @ForeverEva Před 6 lety +1

In my opinion I think the opening to Pocahontas should have been number one. After John Smith and the other English people have their scene, it shows the Native Americans with and amazing song and a truly jaw-dropping title sequence.

    • @marij.8642
      @marij.8642  Před 6 lety +2

That's what I said in my comment, the song "Steady as the Beating Drum" is beautiful! But the scene where John Smith boards the ship isn't number one material for me.
