I enjoyed your take on the series. His son did write an ending to the series, there is a tonal change though. Some see it as non canonical.

I also didn’t really get the plot for the last two books and you explained them very well. I love the way you found book 6 a satisfying end even though Herbert was supposed to write a book 7. I just finished Chapterhouse and now I don’t know what to do with my life anymore. It did not end in a way that I expected and I am unsure if I will feel more satisfied, if I continue with the saga.
Congratulations on finishing it! I'm attempting to re-read now and am part way through Children of Dune. I have previously made it through God Emperor but don't think I ever read Heretics or Chapter House. Honestly knowing now that they're more focused on the Bene Gesserit I'm looking forward to it since I always found them fascinating.
Thanks! They totally lift the veil on their inner workings and complicate our interpretation of them in the previous books. It was definitely worth the time put into the series for me.
Thanks Caroline! My only gripe is you didn't mention the coolest, most curiosity-inducing cliffhanger to end a series on ever. Who the hell are Daniel and Marty? Brian Herbert later identifies them but I think the series is stronger leaving them unknown. Also surprised you liked God Emperor the least. See-ya.
