    A lot of people think of Motorhead as a party band but Lemmy was actually a well-read man who wrote some fairly deep songs about the human experience. To be sure he spent a lot of time on booze, drugs and women but also wrote anti-heroin songs like "Stay Clean" and "Dead Men Tell No Tales", introspective songs like "Capricorn", socio-political songs like "Dogs" and "God Was Never On Your Side", and so many more. He was very forward-thinking in some ways, taking all-female metal band Girlschool on a major tour in 1981 when no one else would give them a shot.

    Motorhead is like AC/DC in the respect that you know exactly what you'll hear on each new record. They didn't change their sound to chase the current trends. You can play a song off of Overkill album to their last and not realize that 40 years progressed between them. I knew when I bought their album that I'd get great rock and roll as Lemmy called their music.

    It's so exciting to watch you experience songs for the first time, especially if they are songs I know very well and love. #Orgasmatron was my first #Motörhead album back in 1986 and from that on I was a huge fan.
    Lemmy from #Motörhead was very much into studying war history (and history in general) and much of his GREAT lyrics ara about war, religion, politics in a critical way. You should really read the lyrics to the music because they are so good.
    There are a lot of good songs on this album. I can recommend #Motörhead "Deaf Forever", "Riding With The Driver" (very fast!), "Claw" and "Built For Speed". Love, Michael

    I LOVE your reviews! Hey, I've listened to a lot of Motorhead. Most people listen to Ace of Spades and that's all, which is really too commercial sounding. Kudos for choosing Orgasmatron at least. But I'll tell you, the song that really blew me away was "I Don't Believe a Word." Super crisp, and the opening bass is top-notch. I'd highly recommend it. Other, less ominous and dark songs you might listen to would be Killed by Death, Stone Deaf in the USA, and another fave of mine is just title Rock and Roll. Love that song. But really, if you want to set the bar high, please review I Don't Believe a Word. Love your work!!!

    I've cursed from a very young age. Not something I'm always proud of ,but I don't believe that made me a bad person. Funny thing is I have always had long hair and listen to metal since I was about 7 when Black Sabbath came out , but Never smoked,drank or ever used drugs . I didn't sleep around . So people's perception of me was that I was a stoner based solely on my looks , Never judge the book by the cover is the message. So that said if the worse thing I have done is say words ( that only have what meaning and power you decide to give them) that other people may not like, I can live with that.

  • @hrothgar64
    @hrothgar64 Před 4 lety

    This video is a year old, but I've just seen it for the first time. First of all: My favourite Motorhead song. The lyrics are brilliant. Lemmy is such an under rated lyricist. First verse about religion, second verse about politicians and the final verse about the military.
    Interesting what you were saying about the fans of the band that you knew when you were younger. Maybe it's a massive generalisation, but that sort of thing only seems to happen in The US. I remember seeing an interview with thrash band Exodus and they said that when they played at clubs like Ruthie's in the Bay Area, their fans would physically attack (and sometimes do pretty horrific damage) to someone simply because they were wearing a Motley Crue shirt. It seems from an outsider, that certain people feel that they have to live up to some sort of 'hardcore' image. Again, I rarely see this kind of behaviour in The UK and I now work in event security and work at shows of all kinds at least 3 or 4 times a week. Of course in a crowd of 10,000 plus, you're going to get some drunken idiots, but nothing like the 'weekend warriors' that you talk about. Those people only tend to exist in The UK at weekend long festivals like Download.
    I've been a rock fan for a very long time. I first got into the UK glam scene in the early 1970's, with bands like Slade, Sweet and David Bowie And The Spiders From Mars. That progressed to Queen and The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. That led to Thin Lizzy and then to the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal and beyond. I've seen dozens of rock gigs over the years, as a fan and in all that time, I can count on the fingers of one hand the amount of fights I've seen.

    Motörhead was not just a band forming metal but Lemmy was the godfather of metal. Back in the day they started to play good old and tried rock and roll on high speed (or shall we say high on speed) They played faster, louder and with more distortion than anyone other and by that invented speed metal.

    For all practical purposes I am like Lemmy. I am immune to the intoxicating effects of ethanol. No matter what or how much I drink I can't get drunk (don't have hangovers either). As for everything else, I have the tolerance level of a wooly mammoth. I have successfully abused myself to a state of perfect health. (However this is but reportage and I do not recommend my lifestyle to anyone, not even on a bet.) Still, I could drink you and your family under the table so, let's not let that happen.
