Engineer Johnny strikes again with the stopcock. I elevate the front end about 4 inches to make the radiator cap opening the highest point to the atmosphere and drink a beer while burping my system since I’m lazy. Wouldn’t mind having a vacuum system to fill my system, but I’m too cheap to buy one. That matching sterio screen and instrument cluster is freaking cool!
I should just do that as well and make life easier
In the jeep forums, everyone says to just pull the rad hoses. Don’t even bother with the petcock. There also an o ring in there you have to worry about too.
I’ve read that too, but wanted to recover some coolant and not make a huge mess
Yes. I spray it inside the tube and on the neck. The hose still sticks but usually breaks free with a twist. I picked that trick up from a snowmobile mechanic. He used it on the carb boots.
I'm going to have to change out the heater hoses on my wife's JK next month .They are becoming swelled . Should be a lot of fun since the heater core ends are buried half under the cowl . I do have the set of pliers for the spring clamp so that should help. Thank you for the like on IG the other day its much apricated Jerry .Great video again and I will catch you on the next one. Pets to Ms. Carmen from me please.
Let me know how the project goes
@@BackCountryWrenching Yes sir I will. Have some more parts that I ordered coming in this week. I will post more pics on IG as it comes along.
23:23 Our Wrangler does that too, if I flip it over to auto, then it corrects its self and we can use the controls to change the modes.
Everyone take a drink when you hear a creaking of the step stool! (call an ambulance first)👍🐸
I love the consistent creaking of the step stool lmao.
Prolly the same sort of sound the Titan sub heard before it imploded 😂🤣😂🤣
@@BackCountryWrenching lmao!
I bought an airlift coolant vacuum tool for my car and it was the best tool investment yet. Fills the coolant in a few minutes and zero issues with air in the system. Porsche can be a pita to get all the air out of the system with its rear engine/front rad design
What are they worth ?
@@BackCountryWrenching my kit was maybe $250 but you can get cheaper kits under 100. It’s the cats ass for filling coolant
I use silicone spray on coolant hoses. Helps with install and makes removal years down the road simple.
Works good for even removal ? I’ll have to keep that in mind
First thing I do with those heathen hose clamps is throw them away with the old rad hose. Get new stainless clamps with new hose.
Had the same air lock issue. Put the front end up on a 4x4 and do all you did. Fixed my issue
Awesome that was going to be my last resort
I’m not a mechanic, I had no idea about the air vent under the intake. Thanks
I believe Engineer Johnny designed that petcock assembly😊
I’m sure he did too
WTF?? What was the masterminds at Jeep thinking?? Your hood decals says it all!!!!
To be all honest the radiator isn’t a OEM part
Hey Jerry. I have a question that I can't seem to find anyone with any idea. When my trucks temp is at normal operating temp (200 degrees F) I can literally hold my hand on the rad cap. The cap does not get hot at all. Now I'm no mechanic but I do know that's not right. Any ideas? I'm thinking bad cap but again I'm no mechanic.
Dual heater cores?
Sometimes you can jack up the front-end and the bubbles pass faster
Helloooooooo Jerry!!!
Beautiful work. That radio is sexy
Yeah it sure is
Thanks for reminding me why I never buy a Jeep
Omg with all your ISSUES. WHY 😅😅😅😅😅
Jerry,you gotta admit,you were overdue for a Shit Show...😁👍👍
I’m on my third radiator, first two OEM, this last one after market. All three had the same bullshit petcock
I don’t understand the reason why…… why even build the rad with a fake one
Ive cut the shit out my hands before on sharp edges on sheet metal hose clamps, it was good to see you bought the hose clamp vice clamp set.
The hose plier set is a life saver
