I don't know what people think the problem with the ref is. The yellow team was late on virtually every single challenge or tackle. Honestly they could've gotten many more cards, I think the ref did a good job of keeping the game tight, but also still give both teams a change. They're just incredibly undisciplined and at a certain point you're not going to make the ref your friend anymore if you keep complaining about very obvious fouls being called.. Like take 19:56 for example. You can very easily give a card for that, because there's simply nothing to challenge. The keeper already has the ball and it's not like the guy couldn't get out of the way. The two reds could've been two yellows probably, but other than tat I think the officiating was pretty darn good. He also talked to the players a lot, gave them many warnings (like when the player and keeper were interfering each other, he didn't call it one way or the other, just told them both to stop initiating contact).
Agree with you 100%. Of course a couple of decisions could have gone either way, but that applies to all refs at all levels. He maintained a constant dialogue with players and vocalized their warnings. Was pretty on top of the game especially in terms of cards late
Yep ref did a great job. Personally, I love getting refs like this who are able to explain what they saw to the player. I always would ask, respectfully, what the ref saw on plays I felt were incorrect or unfair so that I could at least understand it. Sometimes it would help me play better in the game (Like in this game the ref wasn't really calling it when either team was playing the ball while lying on the ground.)

Newer rules allow for inadvertent contact with hand that is in a justifiable position. His arm was there because of the hard play between him and the defender. arguably the defender pushed on him slightly causing him to throw out his arm for balance at that moment. Call has gone that way in a few fifa matches if you go digging for them. also it was very very minor and miniscule impact on the game. had his arm been down it probably hits the defender in the chest and bounces the same way. So almost no impact on play. i know 13 was looking for it but 11 with a good view and 8 right behind him didnt even react to it. So easily could be nothing there plenty or reason not to call that. If that's your only criticism, ref is doing a damn good job.
at 15:38 when they are complaining about the goalkeeper using his hands outside the box, the ball is actually inside the box as you can see it's inside the penalty area at the time the contact is made if you go frame by frame.
The ref was letting blue get away with much rougher/questionable tackles. He also allowed blatant F-bombs to be directed at him with no discipline. Blue was better though.

It’s funny how players still think that you can’t play the ball while you are down on the field. Let’s be clear here. You can play the ball as long as you do this in a safe manner. So I am not sure why the yellow team was screaming for a call since blue played the ball in a safe manner just picture perfect.
The two-footed challenge by yellow #11 at 6:45 should've been a straight red. I've not seen a more deliberate two-footed challenge. Even the AR grimaced at that one. 13:40 - the dissent should've been dealt with. In our competitions we have Temporary Dismissals (10mins in the Sin Bin) for dissent such as this effort. It's actually proven to calm players down so far. Other than that, not great but one of the better refereeing efforts I've seen on IST. And most are pretty bad.
How in the F does the main ref follow the linesmans decision on the 3-4 goal, where the ref has a clear view and already on his way to blow for the goal, while the linesman, who can't see the incident half as well as the main ref ..

Yes. The first yellow on yellow 9 seemed to be for accumulation of fouls. I did see a few clumsy challenges on both sides, he really didn't call any of those. To be fair, these don't show the whole game. I think the goal disallowed was harsh, he caught the ball with his chest, the linesman didn't have good position (he probably heard a multiple hit, and because the player had his arms in. If the ball was at shoulder level I'd go with ok. The AR was very vocal about it, and if I didn't clearly see it, I would've taken his view). The red on yellow 10 I think was a straight red for dissent. I don't have a problem with that. The PK for blue, play seemed sloppy, that could've gone either way (camera had a different view than the ref), I probably wouldn't have. I would've given Yellow 9 a second yellow for running into the goalie. Ref in my opinion didn't protect the GKs well. I admit I had the impression that there was a lot called against yellow, not much against blue, but if someone is persistently fouling, after you've told them that's 3 in a row, and one more... I would've been watching him. Blue #9 seemed to also be one of those (he drew the PK, and he was involved in a few of the fouls, and maybe had a dive in there). But I'm not going to say he was a homer based on clips. Fights need to be clamped down on, hard. Yellows for the second people in who keep it smoldering.

No red card for the yellow team with that crazy tackle; that penalty clearly wasn't a foul and previously was a clear handball from the blue team (every hand in attack is punishable); He and the assistant were quite short in terms of cards in the altercation, a few yellows and maybe more reds.
Your comment about handling in the attacking phase isn't quite true. Since summer of '21 if it's an accidental handling you can only call it if they score immediately after.

honestly I could see yellow filing an appeal or whatever they call it to complain about refs to the league. as the game progressed, he started calling more and more fouls against them for the most minor of things that wouldn’t be called in 99% of other games, but only on yellow. The reds at the end were correct but it seemed very much like red was biased
Yeah the yellow team should appeal that match, they should at least get the chance to play the match again, the refereeing was honestly disgusting, usually give the benefit of the doubt to the ref because they’re not robots and they’ll miss a call or two in a game but this guy was calling an extremely uneven game throughout, in the goal that was annulled for a hand ball, there is no way that the lino can see if the ball hit his hand or not because the player had his back turned to him, and the center ref would have very likely been unable to see it because of the amount of people in between him and the ball. The straight red card was pretty tough, usually those result in a two match ban if it was something against the ref so a second yellow would’ve been the call if he wanted to give a card so badly. He let the game slip away from him because of the bad calls, not saying that the yellow team should’ve let their frustration get the best of them, but it’s nearly impossible when you’re having to play an already tough match with the referees also playing against you making it worse. They shouldn’t be getting games at this level, these are both solid teams, a good game from the refs would’ve made this a much better match than what we saw

honestly I could see yellow filing an appeal or whatever they call it to complain about refs to the league. as the game progressed, he started calling more and more fouls against them for the most minor of things that wouldn’t be called in 99% of other games, but only on yellow. The reds at the end were correct but it seemed very much like red was biased

Yeah the yellow team should appeal that match, they should at least get the chance to play the match again, the refereeing was honestly disgusting, usually give the benefit of the doubt to the ref because they’re not robots and they’ll miss a call or two in a game but this guy was calling an extremely uneven game throughout, in the goal that was annulled for a hand ball, there is no way that the lino can see if the ball hit his hand or not because the player had his back turned to him, and the center ref would have very likely been unable to see it because of the amount of people in between him and the ball. The straight red card was pretty tough, usually those result in a two match ban if it was something against the ref so a second yellow would’ve been the call if he wanted to give a card so badly. He let the game slip away from him because of the bad calls, not saying that the yellow team should’ve let their frustration get the best of them, but it’s nearly impossible when you’re having to play an already tough match with the referees also playing against you making it worse. They shouldn’t be getting games at this level, these are both solid teams, a good game from the refs would’ve made this a much better match than what we saw
nah bro, fair ref. Yellow team was playing butcher football, always late on tackles and stuff and a much lower level of quality on the pitch. Deserved loss for them
