      I'd argue there is a coherent argument here - if we know that eyewitness testimony is unreliable or biased, then the crime only exists in the minds of the witnesses and what actually happened wasn't a crime.

It's saying that it's silly to assume it's all honest and above board when there's literally no incentive for it. Believing a pre-recorded improv show is fully improved is akin to believing wwf wrestling is 100% legit.
