Toronto is probably the best public transport city, because NYC is only good for subways, but Toronto has the GO system for train across lakeshore, TTC subway, almost every major road has trams on it owned by TTC, and Canadian busses are 200% more reliable then american ones.
@@omargoalzz The trams are only in downtown, but I do agree that the buses are quite good. Not the best, always bunching about, but almost always more frequent that most other north American cities.
@@omargoalzz Just visited Toronto. It was so easy getting to destinations by hopping onto the tram/streetcars and subways. I guess people in Toronto like to complain about their transportation, but I think it's fantastic.

It’s such a short system. Traffic is the worst in Toronto too, the 401 leading in and out of Toronto is the busiest highway on Earth, and Toronto still won’t build more subways and trains…
Trains are really good but underrated. The thing we need is GO system to become 24/7 because most people go to university in toronto from Mississauga-Hamilton region and dont take train because GO trains arent reliable super late at night around midnight. that is a easy fix that GO can afford to do probably.
1970s city believe there were no future for subways in a report how short sighted they were. Many proposals just being built now like Downtown Relief Line as Ontario Line, Eglinton West Subway as Eglinton LRT. Though not much Etobicoke rapid transit yet other than proposals
The Finch West line is a tramway, not really a subway line (the fact that its appearing on the subway map as a subway line is ludicrous I agree). As for why they don't connect the Sheppard Line to the University Line, it really goes down to the massive mess that is the history of the Sheppard Line. The original idea was for it to connect from Sheppard West (formerly Downsview) Station to Scarborough Center station in the east, however several recessions and austerity politicians cut it down to the stub it is today. It gets very minimal ridership, and as such its politically difficult to get it extended to what it needs to be. Now right now the current premier of Ontario is planning on extending it east towards STC, however a western extension to Sheppard West is still nowhere in sight, and is instead likely to be outprioritized by an eastern extension of the Finch West line (which is incredibly silly but hey, what can you do).
Sheppard line is a subway. Finch is a tram. Not compatible. Long term planning has always been for Line 6 to go further west and connect with the other side of Line 1. Line 4 may also in the future go east and connect to the other segment of Line 1. These projects are not a priority for the municipal or provincial governments who control the system. Main priority is opening a second line through Downtown because Line 1 and Line 2 get dangerously overcrowded in their Downtown segments.
@@Absolute_Zero7 Finch West is not a tram, but an lrt. They are different. Tram is often associated with streetcars. Finch west will operate more like a subway with higher capacity and actual stations, even if it is in the middle of the street. Also it is grade separated unlike tram. It will also travel closer to heavy rail speeds.

In fact, I don't even have to look far to tell you these differences. Let's compare the Finch West line with the 510 Spadina Streetcar. Here are all the differences: 1) Finch West will have longer trains 2) Finch West will have longer station spacing (which really means nothing because Finch West is in the suburbs, meanwhile Spadina is in the downtown core - of course the former is going to have longer station spacing. 3) Finch West will have a small amount of TSP (which Spadina should be getting), and either way isn't really an "LRT" thing since the Eglinton Line won't have any TSP AT ALL.
