Principles, Approaches and Utilisation of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning (MEAL)

This presentation by Evan Green, Vice President & Senior Partner, Baastel, Canada, looks at a) the principles undergirding MEAL, and b) two approaches to MEAL used by development partners working within the Caribbean and around the world ¬- Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Having an understanding of both concepts will enable participants to develop carrying capacities to improve their MEAL skills in monitoring and evaluating development projects as well as integrating and embedding key MEAL capacities across their organizations. This presentation will also c) provide participants with practical examples of how Le Groupe-conseil Baastel has applied MEAL approaches into past and current mandates to ensure global best practices with a focus on inclusion, gender-responsiveness, participation, diversity and to support continuous improvement, adaptation and learning.
