(Think back to her mommy issue, all she wanted was a little, kinder attention from her mother)
I know this comment is 10+ years old but the fact that their seiyuu's literally ship them together also helps and if i recall the writer does too i need to do some re-reading

I find it very interesting that Fate's personality is largely shaped by her background whereas Nanoha is more of a natural person, unshaped by her surroundings. i have to wonder if the person who designed the characters intended them to be opposites in that fashion... very impressive if so.

Nanoha confessed that she was very lonely growing up.(What is her family so busy with?) Look at that again, and ask yourself... "Is Nanoha's family really as normal as it seemed?" If you're interested, look up "Triangle Heart". (Nanoha is a popular spin-off of Triangle Heart)
Apparently, in Nanoha's flashback, her father used to be a bodyguard. But, after a huge accident at work that caused him to be hospitalized in critical situation, he retired and started working at his family's cafe while teaching Nanoha's older brother and sister martial arts.
I have to laugh so hard each time I see this scene! xD 'don't fall,okey' 'okey' *splat* xD it it harsh to laugh at that? I found it very funny in an endearing way :P I love this little family of 3 in here
Well if you look up the manga for nanoha, they have omakes of certain scenes which are really funny, they have it for A's and Strikers, this is just one of them.
To be fair, and adding onto other responses, coming from a big family often means that you don't get quite as much attention as a single child would. Plus, siblings aren't exactly the best source of tenderness when you're growing up, since they're often dumb kids just like you are. Fate of course has her issues to motivate her to be the nice one.
@TheSakuramage Well the creative teams of the mangas have split opinions about it and the animes have enough subtext for 3 seasons of marimite so i would say our squeeing is validated.

Nanoha is mostly Vivio's mother because nanoha met vivio first and spent more times with vivio and if you watch the last episode, you can tell that vivio likes Nanoha more
