I met Lonnie at a Bluegrass Festival in southern Ohio in the early 1970's. He was a real nice man and so easy to talk to. He got a kick talking about he and Wayne Raney selling baby chicks on WCKY radio in Cincinnati, OH. I use to listen to them onWCKY when I was growing up .
Lonnie and my grandfather were friends. While I was growing up in the late 70's and the 80's Lonnie would stop by every once and a bit and he and the family would get together to eat and play music. One of my great memories from childhood.
Lonnie was my great uncle. I grew up listening to him perform his harmonica songs every time we saw him. I loved his talking harmonica act. Wish I could find it. I really miss him.
Lonnie was good friend of mine. I met him many years ago at The Smithville, Tennessee fiddlers convention. I stole a lot of licks from him. I called him several times over the years. I received a card from him shortly before he died in Searcy, Arkansas of congestive heart failure at age 93. As a young harmonica player, he was really a big influence on me.
Thanks for the post on Lonnie! He was my Grandmother's (Mart Donnelly, Nashville TN) first cousin. On occasion Lonnie would visit and play for all of us in the 50's & 60's. As a kid I was amazed by him! Great memory!!!!
@ModGirl1967 My name is Michelle Campbell.... My daddy has a lot of his tapes... Guess cause they are cousins, but he sure could play the harmonica!!! I'd like to hear I want my mama... :)
Apparently The Delmore Brothers, Wayne Raney and Lonnie Glosson all made a version of this at the same session!!!!!!! so they are ALL on each others record of this song.
@ModGirl1967 Hello there.. Are you the daughter of Wayne Raney or Alton Delmore? My great uncle Walter Moore who was from Huntsville,Alabama used to know the Delmore Brothers and Wayne Raney and Lonnie Glosson and he used to play their records for me and told me he knew them really well and he said they were amazing musicians that could play anything and just about any instrument as well.. I miss those times i had with my great uncle..

My father, who went to be with the Lord in 2007, absolutely loved Lonnie Glosson, & of course Wayne Raney too.
