Just got my RebelAmp and just have 2 things to say:
1st. Hype is 100% justified
2nd. It actually improved the sound when used between my shity iFi Zen Dac and WA-6SE tube amp
Great amp, it made me question my goal of getting a 2000 Euro headphone amp. This sounds exactly how I imagined my end game amp would be.
zeos was getting mighty sexual with the stroking of that amp at times :P
I've always loved class A amplifiers, you should try that in the preamp mode on your system in the living room I bet it would sound phenomenal!

I got two class A amplifiers. The Aune B1S and the Musical Fidelity M1HPA.
Both boosts the midrange and warms up the sound. My M1HPA is also 1 watt. It definitely colours/colors the sound. But it's very enjoyable to listen.
I guess the Rebelamp will sound similar.
And aren't class A higher current per watt? More drive

How does it perform as a pre?
I have mine for 4 weeks now. It is sooo much fun with the Fidelio X2HD.
The Auralic Taurus Mk II Headphone Amp has 8 Watts per Channel of Class A Power, at 32 Ohms, SINGLE ENDED. I own one and use it with the "easy to drive" Hifiman Anandas. They get new life breathed into them with so much current. Also has Balanced In's and Out's. I would absolutely send mine in but I live in Germany.
Yes - power surplus also works on certain lower ohm sets. However, do believe your amp only had 4,5 watts @ 32 Ohm - maybe 8 at 16, but don’t think that is advisable…
I ordered a Rockzilla tube amp and yes I know it's not the best of best . I'm going to use and keep learning about tube amps before a drop $1000-2000 on a really good tube headphone amp in the future ,but headphones are my next purchase .

Rebel Audio is a really really small startup, so it's going to take time for them to get things going, I think. Just have to keep an eye on it. I'm curious to know what more people in the community think about this amp.

Gustard H 20 is a class A fully balanced beast under 1k. Think they are on drop now and again for like $820. Gustard A20H balanced amp with duel DAC $840. Audio GD NFB-1 & Master 19 both under 1k. I am sure there tons of class A's out there under 1k.
The real question is, how does this compare with the NFB 1 AMP which is also a pure class A but fully discrete from input to output. You have tried both, how does this amp compare? A lot of things you have said apply to the NFB with a warm smooth creamy sound with even more power available on audiogd amp.
You should have tried the Arcam rHead while it was available. It does most of what the RebelAmp does but in a sleeker package and it retailed for 250 Euros in the end. I will never let go of it.
Z, I really, really wish you would do some level-matched comparisons between the Rebel and 789. It's very hard to discern whether you are hearing true amp differences or volume differences between the two amps. Not sure you can actually say you hear a difference between two amps when they are two completely different volumes. Fun review to watch, nonetheless!

Because Z is a shill I bought the HP-3s off head fi (currently en route). Now I’m looking for a new amp to pair these with. Would you recommend the RebelAmp for $500 or the Klipsch heritage amp for $380 from a retailer called plumplazas? I give 0 fugs about looks about the brand matching just what you though was a better sound impression with the HP-3? I also own a LCD-X and LCD-3F that I will use on it from time to time when not using my Lyr /Bifrost combo.

Will you be reviewing the Asgard 3? I want you to see if it keeps the benefits of Class A. I enjoy mine and kind of just got it blindly since there were so few reviews at the time.
I just bought it as well! I am loving the classic Schiit look! It’s very simple yet stylish! I paired it with my modi 3, and I love it! There is that Schiit weirdness with the gain (low gain vs high gain) not sure what it is but I love it! Low gain on my hd 660s I can turn it up to 9 and everything sounds loud and clean! Then high gain I can only go to 10-12 on the volume knob and everything feels livelier and more impactful yet still super clean! It’s like two different amps in 1! For me low gain is just very neutral feeling while high gain is almost like it’s been eq’d or something I can’t put my finger on it. The fact I can get different yet very clean and detailed and enjoyable sound with the high/low gain is just awesome!
@@storage-space4927 I wanted something powerful for my Tin P1s and it works well (decent with HD 6XX too). I do wonder if it will scale with a better DAC (I also have the Modi 3). But a new DAC isn't in the budget right now. I'd rather have more headphones. Those Sundaras are very tempting, but Hifiman QC is a concern.

Ah, another video for the historical documents. I had been waiting for this review. Anything that looks this cool has to sound good, right? I saw this amp on your desk when you did the Helios review and it looked cool, but how did it sound? I checked out their web site at the time and they were available. Seeing how they were built, I should have just pulled the trigger, but the $50 shipping gave me pause. Dumb, I know. About three days after your Helios review, without you saying really anything about this amp in that review, they were sold out. It is still sold out, but I assume they will have more soon. So hard to wait.....
Saw you mention in the recent Focal review you are doing a collaboration with Rebel. Curious, Rebel vs the SA-1 in 2023, preference? Looking for a “fun” amp vs clinical. Saw Mjolnir 3 is out but feel like it’s overkill for my inventory.
Id like to know if its better than the liquid platinum. Is it? The LP isn't a magic class A amp. My WA7 is though. I feel like it sounds expensive but that may be because it was expensive.

Yes, war sucks but the amp is worth 660$ if you use it right. 1st you NEVER turn it off. It will take about 3 days to really warm up and you let it on all the time. 2nd. you max out the volume and use it as power amp with external pre-amp. A Geshelli Archel or JDS EL AMP II would be more then enough, and with the amp properly warmed up you will get a very smooth and detailed amp. In fact with the pre-amp you will manage to properly drive even more hard to drive headphones like non-stealth Arya. Yes it is definite worth 660$
I got a BravoAudio S1, it's a class A headphone amp I think I paid a little over a hundred for it. It works awesome and it has a changeable op-amp. I would be very interested if you could buy one on Aliexpress and give it a review of a sub $100 class-A headphone amp. I know you tried and reviewed their little tube amps.

Zeos, you should pair your RebelAmp with a DAC which has class-A circuits, such as the Gustard A22 or X22, just to see if there's any magic in class-A purity.

I have to ask about the gain switch. How easy is it to switch? i could imagine a situation were im going from low to med but then if i want to switch back i accidentally switch it past low strait to high. Is that a likely scenario or does the switch really pop into place?
Its a properly solid switch. But it is small.
10:10 I don't know about robot dogs, but organic dogs can't hear as low as us humans, but they can hear up to 40khz, I'm sure my dog hates my Klipsch speakers, they are probably just screaming at him all of the time.

Matrix Audio HPA-3B. Class A amp 3800 mW at 33ohms balanced and 2100 mw at 33ohms standard. Costs about the same as this, it was available on massdrop. Would be interested in your opinion on it.

you're kidding, right? 16 bit music is limited to 96dB of dynamic range. Which means this amp is at the physical limit of crosstalk for 16 bit music. If you only listen to 24 bit music, I would love for you to tell me if you can hear a difference between -95dB and -120dB crosstalk. I can guarantee you will not hear a difference.
Asgard is class A so is, X1S pro, cayin, Arcam rHead and a lot of high end expensive stuff.
This looks like a rip-off of a Schiit product with a different color.

Can someone explain to me what exactly hes using the 789 for? Relatively new to becoming an audiophile, but I’m trying to understand lol. Essentially hes running the Geshelli to the RebelAmp and then pre outing it to the 789 and his headphones are plugged into the out on the 789? When he uses the pre-out does the rebelamp keep amplifying the sound through the thx? So hes getting the best of both worlds with that setup? Thanks in advance.

I think RebelAmp sources their cases from the same manufacturer as Headamp does for their GS-X products...I see a a lot of "inspiration" in the aesthetics.

I'm wondering how this would compare to the Emotiva BasX A100. I seem to remember you referred to it as murderballs or something to that effect. It costs less and has greater output. There are some additional benefits of the RebelAmp with the gain switch but I am curious how they compare sound wise.
The A100 has insane power but was never clean with high efficiency headphones, This is clean up and down and insanely detailed.
How does it sound with Aeolus?
I can't take them off. Same with my Ether C Flow. Same with the Helios. I just hooked the new Aune FPGA dac up to it. It is now permanent in my setup and FFFFFFFFFF

Zeos keeps struggling when saying the hp-3's because everytime he goes to say klipsch hp-3's, he's reminded of the koss kph30i's.
Love the content, have been watching for years but for the love of god (or any other diety) can we please chip in and buy you a better camera setup. I get motion sickness and want to hurl with the constant over the shoulder bubble head camera movements. Fixed Camera's pretty pretty please Zeos.

@@snauspockets9924 Some of the industrial machines that I use have similar configuration for 3 way switches, you're supposed to start them in middle position (low) and move the switch if you need to.
