    Excellent content, after long time, seen someone doing real time, practical experiment on G9/ GH5 with popular sigma lens. Now I request you, if u can use VILTROX speedbooster with same same combinations and show us results.

      Its exactly the same results. I have both the viltrox and metabones speedboosters. They perform exactly the same in my experience.

    I have the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 with a Viltrox EF-M2 0.71X speedbooster. I can't get it to autofocus for anything on my G85, but it works MUCH better on my Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II because of the phase-detect autofocus of that camera.

    Nice comparison! While testing the AF on my GH5s with the latest firmware, I've found that adjusting the custom AF settings does help. I've found a lower sensitivity (-2) and higher speed (+5) seems to work well with native lenses. I'm not sure how that would work with a speedbooster, but I'd be curious to hear your results!

    Very good test. I have the GH5 + Viltrox adaptor + Sigma 18-35 & Tamron 70-200mm (G2) and I got a similar test result as you. Auto focus is horrible. Manual focus is the way to go with these combinations.

    Excellent video! I live the Sigma 18-35 but the autofocus is terrible for use on a gimbal. Very unreliable. So I use native panasonics for that work and the Sigma for tripod work. The fact that the Sigma is also not stabilized is also a huge factor.
    Keep up the great videos, they're excellent!

  • @rodroyo
    @rodroyo Před 4 lety +2

    Hi Mohamed, its not a fair comparisson. Autofocus is affected asweill by the aperture. The Panasonic 2.8 - 4.0 12-60mm not being 1.8F has a total different quality of image result.

    • @funtomias
      @funtomias Před 4 lety +3

      I was gonna say the same... No doubt there will be a difference in AF results, i.e. the PL12-60 will be better. But we would have to see the results at F4.0 with the Sigma to really compare it (since the PL doesn't have F1.2 and you shot that lens at F4.0 and not even F2.8)...

    I recently started testing my sigma 18-35mm on my panasonic g9 with viltrox adapter. I'm trying to use it with my stabilizer for some nice shallow depth of field shots while walking. Surprisingly enough, AF does well enough to get a few zoomed in stabilizer shots.

    • @FabledFew
      @FabledFew  Před 3 lety

      I have had similar experiences. Sometimes it autofocuses rather nicely, but it's just inconsistent enough for me to not rely on it. Some of our shoots are so hectic, that repeating a shot because I was relying on autofocus is not worth it.

    Nice video.. i have one problem facing since long maybe you have some idea. Actually when I record on my lumix g9 with any 25mn 1.7 or kit (12 to 60)and in post the video gets shaky. Actually I.record 60fps and slow down to 24fps and my all footage gets shaky/distort especially when I reverse the clip. I don't know its camera setting fault or stabilization setting issue .(I turn on I.S lock with handheld) or premier pro fault. But its too irritated..can you help me out..already subscribe:-) plzzz

    • @FabledFew
      @FabledFew  Před 4 lety +2

      You shouldn't turn on IS Lock if you're moving the camera. IS Lock is for fixed, non-moving shots where it gives you that tripod stable look. If you're moving the camera with IS Lock it causes heavy distortion and warps.

    • @FabledFew
      @FabledFew  Před 4 lety +1

      The Sigmas are EF lenses, being adapted to MFT using the Metabones Speedbooster Ultra EF to MFT adaptor. The lenses were designed for DSLRs, and hence do not work well with the contrast-based autofocus system of the Panasonic cameras.
